@xray79083 жыл бұрын
Before you start hating: nobody in their right mind should expect something like this to be exactly what Stevie would do with it. However, I think that 1 - this is a heartfelt and sincere nod to Stevie, not an attempt to rip him off and 2 - it is a damned good version of a song that I would have said nobody should even cover before I heard this cover. (You know? Some songs, there's just no reason to cover them because they will always be so disappointing compared to the original? This was a nice, fresh, original sounding cover, well done!)
@MelissaThompson4323 жыл бұрын
I hated when Eric Clapton covered it ("unplugged.") I learned, long after everyone else already knew it, that the reason I love the Derek version is because the incredible slide is my man Duane Allman.
@xray79083 жыл бұрын
@@MelissaThompson432 I mean no disrespect or ill-will, I hope you'll excuse me for being a bit pedantic when I say that normally one uses the word "cover" for an artist performing a song written by someone else. Clapton wrote the song. He wasn't "covering" it, he was "performing" it solo with an acoustic guitar, probably the same way he wrote it. I totally agree that Duane's slide took it to a whole different place than Clapton doing it solo acoustic. Listening to Clapton's acoustic solo is kinda like listening to Bob Dylan perform All Along the Watchtower after Jimi Hendrix made it his.
