I'm gonna rlly miss Ando when he eventually retires. I love how straight he is. He'll be the first to tell you how good mensur is in the practice room when he's playing fast, so yes he wants him to speed up to suit his own rhythm but also as it makes the overall game a better quality for ppl to watch. Anderson would outscore him either way so technically he shouldn't be bothered, but he plays darts as a hobby nowadays and if he's not enjoying it, he knows the ppl at home aren't enjoying it (we'd all prefer to watch 2015-17 Ando hitting 9 darters for fun) and its not worth his time.

Problem is that under pressure Mensurs dartitis could come back and bring him out of his rythm. All things that he does is because he want to take controll over it. The way he spins the dart in his hand is a way to not fall into dartitis and the focusing before throwing is important for him. He didnt play slow on purpose if you watch mensur - he always was kind of a slow player.

Das muss echt nicht sein, zumal es Mensurs gutes Recht ist sich Zeit zu nehmen (v.a. nach seiner Dartitis Erkrankung), das ist alles so laut Reglement erlaubt, er könnte sich ja sogar noch viel länger Zeit nehmen (bis zu 1 Min pro Pfeil). Ich war echt immer Gary Fan aber die Aussage muss echt nicht sein, dann soll er halt lieber golfen wie er sagt, alle anderen Spieler lassen sich auf die Geschwindigkeit ein. Wenn er das nicht kann/will, dann soll er auch nicht Weltmeister werden.

I went from watching MVG vs Ricky Evans which was unbelieveable to watching Suljovic after every throw got back to his table and have a proper look through his bag that’s was the same every time. So glad Gary won

This was the problem. I don't think officials can ask a player to throw quicker but they can tell him he needs to be ready to throw after his opponent. Mensur was looking through his kit, drinking water etc. well after Gary had finished throwing. It's time wasting in any other sport, PDC officials need to step up.

The game became a farce after the 1st few legs, I'm surprised Gary didn't just throw both tables away & say there that's the problem solved, let's just play darts. With how far the stage is this year, I'd just go for a walk when playing someone like Mensur, you could do 5k probably in that time over 7 sets. Gary's been vocal for a while about the gamesmanship and not been solved at all, there's no need for what any of them do as could get heated for the wrong reasons.

Its just like people often dont know that Mensur suffered dartitis and its often not possible to get back to your best darts after dartitis. Mensur focues a lot before he throws and he also got mental coaching for those big games - the way he throws, the way he focuses, the way he stands at his table all is a routine to keep that mental pressure out and minimise the risk of dartitis to kick in. Also you have 1 minute to throw 1 dart (3 minutes overall) - he wasnt even that slow he always plays like that.

He's 100% right about the slow play. Mensur waited for ages at the table after Gary threw. He didn't do that against Matthew Edgar? He didn't do it in the 3rd or last set in this match. What changed? If they were told what table they were at just before going on, there's no excuse for getting it wrong. Mensur tried his best to put Gary off. He has been crap the past year or so. Has done everything to try and win. He did the same to MVG before and MVG was angry at him for it. That's not darts. No place for dirty tactics in the game of darts.

If your doing something to put the other player off then that’s not on, like when the crowd try to put a player off that’s not fair play. Gary’s a good guy, really gamesmanship should be punished with maybe a fine then it would be stubbed out. Play the game fairly or not at all. Just my opinion. The thing is, if you play well enough that you´re confident in winning the game you don´t need mind games. Just goes to show you how Mensur struggled with this match cause he knew he won´t win it anyway. And in that case he should have just played normal, because I like him a lot but this performance even pissed me off

Mensur had dartitis. It's a huge game against a great player like Ando. It's normal to take the time to get rid of any nervousness isn't it? Ando is so easily triggered nowadays, it seems like he's out of love with the game

I really like Mensur but that was like Italians playing football. It's not that he was playing slow, he intentionaly slowed down the game and most important: He disturbed his own game with it. As soon as he started to play normaly, he improved his scoring and his check outs. I think Gary is right on this one.

I'm guessing if your allocated a table via a toss up I would have thought a player would alway choose the nearest one as over a match using the right hand table you gave to keep walking past your opponent every shot especially if he's waiting at the table almost every time.

They need to sort the players who deliberately slow the game down to gain an advantage it's cheating. If a player who is normally slow and never changes that's fine. but as Gary states he quickened up when it suited him.
