I hope You enjoy this super fantastic version of this wonderful song, I HAVE NO INFO ON AT ALL! Even Rust has little or no information on this recording - recorded sometime in 1935 it is a non vocal version, I have the recording of this song somewhere with Chick Bullock doing his vocal! I hope You will enjoy this beauty, and any and all info You all give Me will be greatly appreciated! Have FUN!

Back in the the 80’s -90’s I purchased an LP from a company called Sunbeam, I believe. It was entitled Theater Intermission Music. All of the tunes were of this label and featured all non vocal versions of then popular vocal versions. I even have a few 78’s as well. These are delightful renditions. Again , many thanks Roybo1930 for sharing this visit to a different era of music !

Thank You! I would LOVE to find that album! I have quite a few of these wonderful records, one thing I wish was different is the flip side is the same, Oh well if the one side is damaged in any way, You will at least have a good copy of the same on the other side, By the way, some of these are 33&1/3rd RPM records!

Get your popcorn, the show is about to start! Imagine that....78s with exit music just for big movie palaces back in the thirties! Some poor pipe organist lost his job because the cinema manager replaced him with this cheap fifty cent record! Yikes! Actually this practice goes back to the pre-talkie days. I have a Gennett from 1928 with the theme song from a silent movie, "The Whip" pressed on both sides, for theatre use only. This record sounds great on my cell phone. I like the growling trumpet and the four hand piano business in this bouncy thirties foxtrot. Has the sound of a hotel type orchestra. Similar to Henry King or Joe Reichman. Swell! Thanks Roybo for posting this! That sweet reoccuring four bars I recognize from a 1936 tune,"When I'm With You." That one is from the movie "Poor Little Rich Girl." Pure thirties glitz!

@@RatPfink66 True, but I'm surprised at the author of your quote. I would have expected it to be by Milton Berle, who was always accused of stealing other comedians jokes.

You know I have several Cameo records with pasteted on labels stating "Special Theater Record" Distributed by AL. GREENSTONE 312 W. 47th St., N.Y. from 1922 -23 period, One if from "The Lady In Ermine" song "When Hearts Are Young" flip side from "The Gingham Girl" "As Long As I Have You" both sides by Arthur Lange Orch. Cameo # 292! So this may be a much earlier idea then we think!

No one is talking about the incredible trumpet solo on that. The trombone is pretty good too but the trumpet is remarkable almost Beriganesque. Any ideas here ? I am quite impressed - I mean a Louis Garcia or Manny Klein could do this but few others - really a nice recording

I thought I had this on Melotone, but I was mixing it up with another track. I had it on Panachord from US Vocalion 2924 . The vocal version was recorded March 23rd 1935, by Russ Morgan Orch, but no mention of the non-vocal take on this session in the newer book!

Thank You so much, You helped me out on a mystery. I was talking to benzo last night when I was uploading this and I was looking all through My Melotone's for the copy I have with Chick Bullock on the vocal! Now I remember I have it on a Vocalion!

As i wrote to Roybo, this appears to be from a different band (thus different date?). Maybe Russ directed, maybe he didn't. He was still doing A & R and didn't have a fulltime band.

@@RatPfink66 Thanks! The lead out number is the number on the label F 402 and above that - A-2 ! and that is all, I looked and looked for a discography on this and came up totally empty! Yet this is truly a WONDERFUL version of this Song! If You find any more info on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Vincent Rose's orchestra has a superb polished and smooth sound, this is absolutely great. Unfortunately, I have very little information about this myself. A couple of recordings were made of this song in 1935 (Taft Jordan & The Mob, Jack Hylton) but that's about it. Actually I could not find this side at all in my copy of the Rust Dance Band Discography... Anyhow, it is the music that counts and it is wonderful, thanks a lot for sharing. Wishing you and your beloved ones a Merry Christmas as well as a wonderful and sparkling New Year!
