I ordered his vehicle card set. They got delivered July 28th, it's been about a month now and my 4 year old knows 75% of his letters both sounds and names upper/lower case. I also got his courses and can't wait til my son is blending letters. His courses are honestly so well thought out, you can tell he really puts in a lot of passion. If anyone is reading and second guessing, do it. SPENCER thank you for believing in our kids!

Thank you so much for this clear explanation. My 5 year old went to school crying this morning because she is having problems blending and is afraid she’ll get her reading all wrong in class. I’ve been having sleepless nights and frustrating evenings trying to help her...I’m abit more confident with your help...bless you.

I'm so sorry to hear that's been her experience. 😕 I hope my videos can continue to be helpful!

They most definitely are, after this first week using your methods, I’ve seen much improvement and she’s become more confident in her reading. She got her first spelling test and was super excited because she only got one wrong. Thank you so much for sharing and helping us to help our kids.

I wish teachers (I am one) were taught to teach reading this way. We have been subjected to so many different trends in teaching reading since I started teaching, and none have been as straightforward and useful at this method!

This is so awesome. I see I'm on the right track to help my son. Thanks for sharing your opinions on sight words. I've been saying similar things for so long... probably because my dad had a phonics course for me YEARS AGO...and sight words were NOT part of the units.

So I have a question (Forgive me if it has already been asked and answered, I have not looked through the entire thread). My child is 6 months and I am just preparing for the day to introduce reading. Seeing that there is more emphasis on the sound of a letter than the actual name of the letter, do you suggest skipping what the name of the letter is in its entirety and just go straight into the sound? And if so, when does the name of the letter get introduced? Thank you in advance.

This is so brilliant. I think I will apply this rule to my learning of Greek. Instead of memorizing words, I should better learn first to blend letters, so that I can read the words whether I understand them or not.

This is so good! Especially when you told they are either trying to say the name or the sound. Bad thing about my kid’s school is they teach the letter names and not the sound, while I am trying to teach her sounds, she gets confused as crazy! What should I do in this scenario to help her read, instead of the school way of teaching? She is just 3 year old and I don’t want to confuse her or stress her at all. But I am sure she is developmentally ready to read, as she can communicate in full sentences and stitch stories etc.

The letters are shapes like triangles or squares. The letter shapes have names, so that we can tell other people which shape to write down. But when we are reading those shapes tell us what sounds to say. (Letters don’t make sounds, people make sounds.) Instead of “what does this letter say” try “what does this shape tell you to say”.

My 6 year old will guess based on the picture or one letter sound. She does know all of the single letter sounds so now we are going to practice 2 letter sounds at home. We played a game today based on another video. I put the letter A and a bunch of consonants for her to jump on them and say the sounds to make a word and she blended them together really well.
@lesliewarner9579Ай бұрын
Next I will use the white board truck and probably alternate activities so we learn the sounds and practice blending in a fun way. I told her I had a fun new word game we could play either starting today or tomorrow. She said she wanted to start today. That way I didn’t throw her off by disrupting her routine. I gave her the instructions by telling her the A always has to be in the middle for this time and we would be focusing on at and ap ending sounds. She followed directions. So then I let her play her way. She wanted to remove letters after making words with them but the A always stayed. It went really well. I hope we can make progress and I can boost her confidence. Thank you!

how can I teach the difference between i and e they are sooo similar :/
@gladyspetillo61392 ай бұрын
Hello👋I would come up with word/ words that give the sound for i such as igloo or iguana. Then ask my child what’s the beginning sound that he heard me say. I would do the same thing with e. For example I would say egg or elephant and ask for the beginning sound, also.The word/ words beginning letter give the sound of each ( i and e). This is how I work with my child and he gets it. It is patience and lots of creativity. You and your little one got this. I hope this helps. Remain blissful, always. Blessed be!

This is especially difficult for kids who have learned another language first. Spanish and even Russian have conflicting sounds with those letters.
