The Ford Bronco II was created in an era where car buyers were downsizing trucks. Very popular and many nice examples still exist today. Meet Bob Marrs and hear his 30-year story with this Bronco II that helped raise his kids to love 4-wheeling, the outdoors and is now being used to cruise around to car shows.

Man that’s a nice rig! I had an 88’ XL. I nick named it the Bronchitis but I loved it all the same. Wish I had money at the time to fix it and keep it

I miss my 1990 Bronco II. That thing was a Mountain goat! It would go anywhere and everywhere. I could climb desert mountains, run through creeks in Alabama, pull boats and drive on the highway easily. It still ran like new after 11 years of ownership and 233k miles. Looked great also. Wish I still had it. Great vehicle.

I grew up in a bronco II it was a 1984 with the 2.8 even less hp the the 2.9. and the 2.9 had 140hp dad ended up hoping up the 2.8 would spin 8k all day. ours had a 4" lift and 31 bfg all terrains like you we have many good memories in ours when i turned 16 they gave to me and lets just say being a kid and having something that capable was amazing. weak link was the tiny clutch but you can easily swap the axles for the explorers bolts right in. I Remember once we were out mushroom hunting and there was a sign in the trail said wrong way right when we saw it the bronco died it was raining also but turned out was the module on the distributor that's why they moved them later on oh well a memory I still have

Gorgeous ride. Thanks for sharing ! I am looking to purchase a 1986 bronco 2. I keep hearing it has a death rollover issue or something …what do you think of that ?

Man those 2.9s are so quiet! I definitely prefer the sound of my 2.8 in my '84. Nice rig definitely like the 84-88 grill more then the 89,90.

Thank you!! I should be inspired but I am in no way close to a greaser (in good terms). I still have my first original 1988 Ford Bronco II and wish I could get it started and running again :-( Maybe you could consider selling me yours :-) Or, offer some advice to me. BTW my wife is from Payson. My mother in law still lives there. We now reside in Ventura CA.

I’m just telling you I have gotten 1,000,000 miles out of these 2.9’s I don’t know what people talk about a curse and all this other stuff yeah I’ve had some electrical shit happened but if you maintain and keep up with your stuff you will be OK and get mini years of enjoyment out of one of these trucks just change your oil every 3000 miles and I recommend some Lucas in everything gearbox is transmission and transfer case front and rear diff everything Lucas

Hi Wendy, I bought those so long ago I can’t recall source. They were beat up pretty bad before getting refinished. The painter did a fine textured bed liner product on them.
