Awesome points Tim. I agree 100. However, I am wondering if you’ll address this but most people these days view all “jobs” as pretty much sucking. The desire for wealth in part has rendered your point about unions etc a lot less appealing. You even see it in trucking where it’s pretty much like owning your own truck or bust. Wondering if you could do a video addressing that mindset etc as I actually do believe a great life can still be had “working a job”. Thanks.

This union job like you’re talking about is how it is for me. I’ve been a teamster for 11 years and wouldn’t feel comfortable as a non union driver. I did it when I was local and was treated horribly for the first 7 years of my trucking career. It’s not as good as the old days but much better than non union. Only other option is owner operator but that’s a lot of unnecessary stress

first company drivers I ever met were rodeway truck lines back in the '80s. Drivers had white pressed shirts and creased pants shirts contained Union emblems of how many accident-free miles. Almost look like a pilot. Those drivers were very proud of how many accident-free miles they drove.

It's funny you mention this because I've been a driver for 9 years, and I often think to myself I've yet to have a job that I felt I couldn't walk away from. They continue to come up with ways to make it irritating. Example would be the cameras and the trucks making all kinds of noises babysitting us.

My sister worked at a law firm in the early '80s. I thought she made good money, but she said no. She did get an individual parking space with her name attached. Beautiful work conditions, i was impressed. She said they just didn't want to increase her pay. She also loved how the lawyers always were petrified if they had to go to trial, would do whatever to achieve an out of court settlement. She quit, got in the tech industry(chips), received stock options , 80's,90's, life is good. No college, smart, corp image, good verbal skills. She had vision, while i never could comprehend how big the tech industry would become.

trucking company owners and in most cases board members. Do not care about drivers or retention. as they will just hire a new student. run them like dogs and pay them 35 -40 cents a mile. as most will pay for school then lock them in to a year contract. Pam comes to mind as that is who i went through and when I said I was leaveing they used the threat of having to pay the schooling back. almost as a threat. For me I had a small mowing business so money wasn't an issue i was about to pay it off. Had they treated me good and actually paid enough I would have still been there. 100% of compniew that can't keep employess its because of how they treat them even more then pay. as most everyone hates dealing with change.
@indo30523 ай бұрын
Hey i got a question. Did prime ever show u the ratecon? Isnt a company legaly obligated to show the rate of the contract so theres evidence of what they are telling the driver
@timtravels1163 ай бұрын
@@indo3052 They send sheets that purport to be that. But like I’ve said before, I don’t care what they make, I just cared what I did. What pissed me off was when my FM would say what a load would pay but then the money was never there. Or when 100+ drivers (not me though) were quoted a rate, then after they hauled, the shipper said the made a mistake and Prime clawed tens of thousands back from drivers.
@indo30523 ай бұрын

It's kinda funny you bring that up about jobs being valuable and attached to unions. I hear far too many people (usually truckers) getting burned and being surprised by the company having not been loyal to them, and they pine for times long past where that happened (honestly they were forced to due to the union) even tho they were never a part of it. And not a single one of them goes "we should unionize" and many will fight against it because "the company will have my back! They are looking out for me!" And that's sadly never true unless it's in their best interest.

I’ll never understand people who use their earned money/points to buy company branded clothes. I’ll never understand it, after the initial buzz wears off, you should NEVER spend your money to promote the company you aren’t even an employee of
@timtravels1163 ай бұрын
First, all of my Knight shirts were free. Second, I’m not sure anyone thinks that just because someone wears a company name on their shirt they’re promoting it. By that logic, every single thing you use that has a logo implies promotion. Third, Prime store stuff is subsidized which is why I got a Carhartt (that has a label on it) jacket that retails for $104 at TSC, for $12. Sure it’s got a logo, but I’m not cold.
