Considering that the Kalos legendaries, Yvetal, Xerneas and Zygarde are based on Vetrfolnir, Eithyrnir and Nidhogg (The guardians of Yggdrasil) it would be really cool if those same pokemon were brought back and had some Ragnarok like special forms equivalent to the primal forms for Kyogre and Groudon.

As a Norseman, I would have loved for Gen 9 to have taken place in a Scandinavia-based region, mostly due to how important the number 9 is in Norse Mythology. I like Scarlet and Violet, but I'd have liked a Nordic region :D Also, just for clarification, Ymir is only the father of all ice giants in things like Marvel, but in the actual Mythology Ymir is the father of the Jotnar, a tribe of supernatural entities that were the opposite of the Aesir tribe. They were gods in their own rights but represented chaos and evil rather then order and good like the Aesir did, for the most part. Also, contrary to what people think, mostly due to Marvel, Jotnar were not giants. A few certainly grew to large proportions due to the chaotic nature of their existence, and some of them even had the shape of animals, but most of them were human-looking, ugly ones, but human-looking nontheless.
@NieroshaiTheSable Жыл бұрын
iirc "evil" is never explicit, only "our enemy." The aesir AND I believe some vanir both married jotnar. Painting them as pure evil feels like a change added by Christian collectors of the tales to give the gods "demons" to fight where there were none before.
@Lupinemancer87 Жыл бұрын
@@NieroshaiTheSable Sure, but they were still beings of chaos. And a threat to both gods and humans, so they were evil from our perspective.

@Lupinemancer87 Жыл бұрын
@@allenkeith7160 Yeah, I don't know what happened, but I guess when the Pros Edda was translated from the original old Nordic, into english, something went wrong in translation. I'm guessing whoever translated it, didn't know what a Jotunn was and used a reference they were familiar with, which is how people came to believe they were giants. I'm only guessing here. Most stories here in Scandinavia does NOT use giant, or any version of that word, to describe the Jotnar.

Squirrush/Squirrimber seems like an overt reference to Ratatoskr, the squirrel that climbs up and down Yggdrasil, carrying messages for Nidhogg and the eagles that perch at the top of the tree. The Thundrailer Fakemon might be a reference to Tatzelwurms, half-feline, half-serpentine beasts from Alpine folklore (Switzerland mainly). Though they aren't specifically from Norse mythology, it is part of the greater Germanic mythology that Norse culture is a part of. It's also important to note that Tatzelwurms show up in the Norse God of War games as an enemy type, so it might reference that too.

I had a dream about a Nordic viking region awhile back. However, the games were split into 2 different timelines. The first was sent into the distant past. The game play looked more dynamic (think of Legends Arceus, but better), and the mascot was a Dark/Steel black bear. The bear had long, sharp claws while looking rugged. The other focused on the modern day; researching the events of the first game. The mascot was a mystical ground/fairy type moose.
@QueenEspeon96 Жыл бұрын
The games included park core, but both protagonists used it differently. Additionally, the regional form roster looked at its best. Examples were Abra, Mareep, Bunnelby, Shinx, Ralts, and Eevee (its evolutions adapted the remaining physical types) The gimmick looked like it focused on traveling between the two timelines and being able to obtain the version exclusives. Not only that, but this also allowed the protagonist to learn valuable information; which enriched the two timelines. How did I dream about a game trailer and have knowledge of how the game works? Gamefreak announced a 30-minute (plot wise) game demo as soon as the trailer was over.

just so you know, the UB Deathless Warraith is actually based on the Viking's undead monster called a Draugr, according the the stories, since its the Valkyries job to ferry the souls of warriors slain in battle to Valhalla, however, sometimes the warrior fights off the Valkyrie and their body becomes a husk animated by their wayward soul. The one way to defeat a draugr is to burn them so they don't come back, but you must do it at night since they disappear underground when the sun comes up, kinda like vampires in a way.

I absolutely would love to see a Scandinavian region in Pokemon but to clarify, Dunsparse is base on the Tsuchinoko which in no way has anything to do with dragons. For those who don't know, in Japanese folklore, the Tsuchinoko is a snake-like being. Tsuchinoko are described as being between 30 and 80 centimeters in length, similar in appearance to a snake, but with a central girth that is much wider than its head or tail, and as having fangs and venom similar to that of a viper. Some accounts also describe the Tsuchinoko as being able to jump up to 1 meter in distance followed immediately by a second jump while still in the air. According to legend, some Tsuchinoko have the ability to speak and a propensity for lying, and they are also said to have a taste for alcohol. Legend records that it will sometimes swallow its own tail so that it can roll like a wheel. Dundunsparse is suppose to be a further showing of that connection; however, I do agree that it needs one more evolution, but instead of a dragon, it evolves into a snake-like Pokemon with it's tail in it's mouth and be called Dunouroboros.
