If you are genius solve this - part 9 ( Time Counter puzzle )

You have 2 hourglasses, the first one ends after 4 minutes and the other one ends after 7 minutes.
your task is to count 9 minutes using those 2 hourglasses
try to solve it then you can see the solution.

start both timers at the same time, when the small runs out, flip it back over so it starts again. 4 minutes have passed. Now, when the large one runs out, flip it. 7 minutes total have passed, and the small timer has run for 3 minutes since it was last flipped. When the small timer runs out, flip the large one. At this stage, 8 minutes have passed and the large timer is 1 minute into its cycle. Since it has been flipped again, it will undo the 1 minute it just did, and will finish at 9 minutes.

Flip the small one whenever it finishes. Start both simultaneously. Start counting after the big one has finished. By then the small one will have 1 minute left; two more runs and you have your nine.

My solution: start both timers at the same time, and when the small timer runs out there are three minutes left in the big one. Flip the small timer, so when the big timer runs out, the small timer will have one minute left. This is the start of the nine minutes. Now flip the small timer when it runs out, and flip it again when it runs out again. When the timers runs out again, the nine minutes is over. 1+4+4=9

You can just start the small one the 2 minutes later start the big one. 2+7=9

Where do you get the two from? You need to get the exact time, and can't judge when it is half way done

put the four minute hourglass on its side. When it finishes, 2 minutes have passed. Then turn on the big hourglass and you have your 9 minutes.

That wasn't my answer but I was right. And my answer ws more legit than the actual answer and it was the same as the top comment. But I did it in the opposite order. Way too easy.

isn't that kind of cheating? how would you count 1 minute with the big timer and then flip it back over? you wouldn't be able to do that without the timer if i used you logic i can just flip the big one over, wait until it ends, flip it back over for 1 minute, and flip it over again for 1 minute, and id be done, who would need the small one.

that was a dumb solution, you should have to start the bigger one first and when it is finished then start small one and when it will be half finished then there will be 9 minutes completed. As:- 7+2=9
