This is one of those cases where we just have to let it go and let it die. As unfortunate as it is, a lot of household names (aka Dev studios) that we have enjoyed for decades are not what they used to be. Best thing we can hope for is that devs can leave and form their own self-sufficient studios without the need for these vulture-like execs looking to make a quick buck. That's what made gaming back in the day (2000's era) - passionate devs who's only goal is to visualize something they love and cherish then share with the rest of us.

@@me67galaxylife Finding a better job within the game design industry, especially in the UK (where CA's headquarters are based), is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Most of these developers are most likely stuck with working for CA for quite a long while due to how fragile job security is within the industry, especially if they're as inexperienced as you claim they are. The UK is also currently fast approaching a great economic slump, with the cost of living greatly increasing and wages only fractionally following suit. The HQ is based in Horsham, which is quite close to London, and as such the standard of living is going to be a lot more expensive than most places in the UK. So I'm sorry to say but these developers do most likely have a starving family to feed. The best case scenario WOULD be for them to move on, but there are so many factors that play into this equation it's near impossible.

Also, he made it very clear. They 100% know their games suck, the people working on these games are aware they suck, they know it and they don't care. The game is horribly unbalanced, the lighting is horrible, the campaign is horrible, the sieges are horrible, the units are uninteresting and and so much more. They have it in their heads that making a game for a year, sell it for quick cash and then stop all support for it is the way to go. They literally have not tried any new multiplayer mechanic in 10 years if you ask me. The removed more mechanics than they add. Like imagine Napoleon 2 has a less buggy more interesting Naval battle than thrones of Britannia. Then banning community members and removing the chat function from the older games adds to it. Then recently, out of the blue, they removed the lobby and in game chat and completely killed the experience (in my opinion). The old community adapted with steam group chats and so on, but it completely destroyed the newcomers since you couldn't explain specific game rules or planning and executing team play during battles. In regards to the first 4mins of this video, most people shoot in their pants over a cinematic trailer and say 'YEP THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING', pre order, it bombs and then the cycle repeats itself

The main issue with CA is they have no direct competition. It will take 1 company to creep into this genre for them to change

Really hoping you do playthroughs of UG American Revolution when it fully releases. I would be glued to it.

LOVED your criticism. You are the first one I saw as of yet that had a truly common sense opinion, everybody else always, stupidly imo, try to be optimistic around these kind of subject, maybe trying to avoid making a hateful or bummer of a video that wouldn't attract many views, but idk. I'm just tired of this silly optimism and seemed endless hope people have around the game industry as a whole, forgetting or choosing to forget that this kind of behavior from big companies leadership, and ignorance from our part as a consumer, that brought us where we are now. I'm fucking tired of these scumbags trying to make a fool of everybody, just to back down to the obvious least acceptable behavior when, and only when, it backfires. I'm tired of half-assed apologies like these, and incredulous of how people still just take it as a good thing. The truth is that they deserve, and in my eyes should, get fucked for trying to be assholes like this, and its gonna take more than a bare minimum, and obvious damage control stunt, to make up to the things they've done all these years. But at the bottom line its just refreshing to see some skepticism and good awareness of someone else. Cudos, for you and everyone else that shares this opinion.
