A recently married man was in his garage working on his Celica. His new wife came out and watched him for a few minutes before saying "Now that we are married, you should probably sell that old thing" Suddenly the mans face went pale and he looked as tho he was going to be sick. "Are you OK ?, whats the matter" asked his wife. The man said, "For a moment there you sounded like my Ex-Wife" "EX-WIFE" the woman shouted, "You never told me you were married before" "I wasn't" he said.

Speaking of 70's Jeeps, I bought a new one(AMC)in '74. I really loved that old thing but it was not a quality vehicle or one you could depend on. Kept it for 12 years but had to replace many parts on it over the years. Sure was fun in the snow though.

This was never supposed to happen. They made some mistakes around year 2000, and some Jeeps came out more reliable than the leadership had pointed out. People got fired, there were reorganizations, and they after some time came back on track developing cars that not would last that long. Everyone can make mistakes.

Jeeps may have gone downhill but I got a 16 Cherokee and I REALLY like how rugged it is compared to any other SUV I've seen. The rubber mats are so easy to clean, the interior looks great, and the only problem mine has is the shift lights get confused and it throws a "shifter service" warning, but it drives and shifts just fine.. it's literally just the lights lol That said, nothing about the new cherokee's scream off road to me. It's just a typical SUV with a few nice touches on the interior.

Ive always put my new tires in the rear and rotate the rear to the front tires. This comes from my experience with Sears Radial (think Michelin) tires in the mid 1960's when the Sears mechanic refused to mount two new radial tires on the front of the car with the original bias tires in the rear. He insisted that the higher traction tires belong in the rear of the vehicle. I have done that ever since and never have had an issue with donuting out on a slippery curved road.

I guess I’m a lucky guy... I’m over 60 and have owned Jeeps my whole life. Mostly Wranglers...but some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Cherokees too. I take care of my vehicles and never miss servicing or oil changes, and air filters. I also keep them as clean as possible, both as a hobby and so I can notice any strange leaks or fluids. I’ve never had SERIOUS issues with any of these Jeeps. V8’s, V6’s...no troubles. Don’t get me wrong, I do agree there are times when FCA released products too soon. The 9 speed transmission originally was released before the software was ready. But, even so, you can keep your vehicles running pretty good if you just pay attention. If I am one lucky guy...I’m real lucky. Because Ive owned almost everything Jeep has made...except 4 cylinders (although I like the 2.0 Hybrid/Generator motor). No troubles...know on wood.

The tire problem is the new pair of tires has a lower load rating than the old tires . You have to check the load rating when you get tires . On a cargo van ,mini van or station wagon it will call for a higher load rating on the tires because you can load more stuff . There is a number and a letter on the tire one is the weight rating one is the ply or speed can't remember . You need to get the correct weight rating for your vehicle you can look up the codes for car and truck tires .

The old 225 Dauntless V-6 (actually the 225 Buick engine) was great on fuel economy. I also had a 1984 CJ-7 that I installed a 1964 Dodge WW Stromberg carburetor on with the five speed manual and original 2.72 gears with the 4.2 inline six and it did 24 MPG on the highway and 20 MPG around town. Idle RPM was set at 500. This was in the 1990,s and the person I sold it to is still driving several days a week. If you can’t leave it out in the rain without the top it’s not a Jeep.

I use to own some of those early 80's CJ's, although the motors and drivetrain were great, the safety was not there. The rollbars could only handle half a roll, and the later AMC's were jacked up to look good. They were too top heavy. Many people died in rollovers. Many just driving on the streets, flipping over.

I bought my first Jeep Wrangler in 2020. I’ve owned 50 cars, and many of them were/are Toyota’s. I bought it for two reasons. First, until the Bronco, it was the only car where you can take off doors, the top and the windshield. Second, it retains 70% of its value over 5 years - more than any other car (including my 4RUNNER). The biggest cost of a new car is depreciation, so the Jeep over five years will likely cost less than most other cars. Having said that, I did purchase an extended warranty.

@@mikesmnell414 I’ve owned my wrangler for 8 years as of next month. It’s been great and LOADS of fun. I’ve had two things break in that time. One radiator hose clamp ($2 to fix) and the rear windshield washer mechanism has a leak. I should probably buy a new one for like $75, but “eh”. Also, I’m about ready for my 3rd windshield but those are free through insurance. Other than that it’s been completely trouble free. I also just upgraded the shocks, springs, wheels, tires, brake pads and rotors. It’s even better now! And it’s resale value is insanely high.

Bought my first Jeep in 2013, a 2 door Wrangler which maybe short of the Gladiator is the only Jeep model I would even think about. Fast forward to 2021 and I've had no serious or expensive issues with it and it is driven in Erie, PA, perhaps one of the toughest environments on a vehicle in the country. The biggest plus is it's a vehicle I still like after 8 years, and that's better than owning a vehicle I grew to hate, namely the 2007 Toyota Tacoma I had before that despite washing it regularly had a crusty looking frame after 6 years.
