I think the key word here missing in the title is 'consistently'. Many beginner to intermediate drummers can actually do the sticking, but with stuff like mambo and especially shuffle beats, the consistency and dynamics are essential.

Yea... Like playing "funky drummer" for 30 seconds is one things, but the actual full song lasts some 9 relenteless minutes, with all kinds of variations on the beat, one-handed press rolls and stuff.

For sure!

when drummers auditioned for Motown, Berry Gordy always wanted to hear how well they played 12/8

Bonne vidéo a mettre en favoris car elle résume très bien les fondamentaux a connaître ! Je rajouterai quand même un swing, un rythme jazz, et un 3/4 ou un 5/4 et on est prêt a quasiment tout jouer !

Time to learn them all 😎

The mambo one gave me a hard time. Once you realize your left and right feet just alternate you can turn off that part of your brain, then focus just on the right and left hands 😂
@brettclurdrumsАй бұрын
Haha yeah! But then once you have the comfortable, you can sub the foot pattern out for a samba kick pattern. That's two kicks and then a hi hat

Always wondered if drum n bass would sound different if the Amen Break never existed
@efafe4972Ай бұрын
lol tbh should be if you can play these 5 beats you are just past beginner
@masonkeiling5925Ай бұрын
I'm sure you are way better than Me buy it took me probably 2 to 3 years to be able to get to play these dynamically correct. Unless you are some sort of ignorant prodigy I don't think the Roseanna shuffle is a high beginner/low intermediate groove😂
@efafe4972Ай бұрын
@@masonkeiling5925 it took me 3 years as well.im no prodigy. however i really believe everything here is just the beginning to just how deep this gets lol.
@brettclurdrumsАй бұрын
Funky Drummer and Rosanna are definitely far past beginner. Maybe the other ones haha!

@brettclurdrums thanks for reinforcing what I thought brett! This dude was making me reconsider my skill level haha XD
@efafe4972Ай бұрын
@@masonkeiling5925 im not trying to make it seem like those arent hard. theyre hard to get too. it also took me 2 to 3 years. my point is that these are basics for what you will now be exploring once you've mastered them which is comparatively a much deeper rabit hole. for example rosana shuffle comes before you can do any of those advanced triplet based grooves and the funky drummer is a basic if you want to get into the sort of acouistic edm beats or like JD beck style backbeat based modern fusion jazz

Funky drummer. It’s the touch, feel & sound quality of the original recording is the thing. You can nail it technique wise and still be nowhere near sounding like as good.
