While Pokemon has done better for me % -wise compared to stocks as well, you have to remember that with stocks, you "just" click sell, and it is done. Pokemon has a very different offloading time and focus needed.

Another great video mate. In regards to the “Flooding the market” sentiment, I believe that Lost Origin will be interesting to watch. It seems that everyone’s partner, grandmother and pet dog has a case of that sitting in their cupboard. It will be interesting to see if that will put downward pressure on the price as people take profit along the way. Especially if it has a Fusion Strike moment.

How do you recommend the average guy sell stuff? eBay takes about 13% and you want to have a good rating or people won't buy. Hard to sell on Facebook with being in a smaller town.

I think your perspective is very interesting here. 2025 will be a big year for the pokemon industry of collecting, investing, and whether people like it or not, some of these products will never go back down to where they were before. Either get on the train and get ready for the ups and downs that come with any type of investing or don't. But, people are naive if they think pokemon investing can't be a serious investment.

@@jamesgraves9858 lol you seem fun ringing in the new year being a pessimist. Pokemon isn’t even the main thing I collect and this is just a hobby/side thing for me… plus as Michael and any other rational person in this industry says, this should be seen as just a small percentage of your investing portfolio and to hit all your tax-advantaged accounts and savings accounts first before you even touch this. I dont think you can compare investing in property to card investing. If you by a piece of property for (example) $100,000 and it goes up to $110,000, most people did not “make” 10%. Probably a 20% down payment, so you put 20% to control $100k, then factor in monthly payments and tax write-offs, you could have made 100% in 1 year. But this is just “paper” gains. Second, with stocks. Until you get a good foundation, stocks too should be for the long term. I still own KO and HD from the early 90’s, and still holding and collecting dividends. “Investing” in cards (pokemon, MTG, etc) is a 100% cash investment, meaning you cant buy $10,000 of pokemon for a $2,000 down payment (real estate or options). One has 100% skin in the game. Then for selling cards, there is a huge overhead, usually taking a 30-20% hit. If you have $10,000 in cards, to cash out you might get $7,000 to $8,000 cash, depending on demand, huge transaction cost.

Ridicoulous advise. TCGs are considered a high risk investment, and no one should jump onto it if they have never invest on anything before and do not understand basic markets fluctuations. Pokemon TCGs is an extreme niche market and is not reliable like a traditional market. DO NOT WASTE your money on Pokemon TCGs if you are looking to invest only. If you undertand and enjoy collecting them, then do it, but do not ever invest your money on what you do not understand. That goes for pokemon or anything in life.
