I prefer the yarn over look personally. I think it's about tension 😊

Wow. Apparently I've been doing yarn under for decades. It's just what I found most comfortable with the way I move my hook.

I taught myself to crochet decades ago and always did yarn under, not realizing there was a difference. It wasn't until about a year ago I realized.

I have noticed every once in a while some crochet videos that have done the yarn under. I assumed it was just another way to make a single crochet, possibly a regional difference. Thank you for the great information on this difference. Sometimes I do desire tighter stitches. I will be practicing this stitch for sure to get used to the slight difference.

Honestly, if you have good stitch tension, yarn over can look equally as good as yarn under. I use both techniques depending on what pattern I'm doing, and I find that I like both equally. I don't have problems with holes or looseness at all with yarn over. Good yarn, good stitch tension, and above all the right hook size is key.

I was going to comment on the hook size too. I’ve found that with the right tension and using a smaller hook size than called for tends to give me really neat and tight stitches.

I yarn over.... It's been a lot later, and I still love myself. Lol❤❤❤ But seriously, yarn under is too difficult. The hook doesn't catch it as easily. Maybe it's a left handed thing, idk. But I am happy with what I make.

I know!!! Yarn under felt so odd the first time I tried it. And I had to keep checking each stitch as I was often alternating yarn under and yarn over 🤦‍♀️ But eventually it will become very natural. And now it’s my favourite way to make amigurumi. Just hang in there 😉 and good luck with your amigurumi 👋❤️

what do you do for a decrease? and also, what about a half double crochet stitch or even a double crochet stitch? Does this yarn under work with other stitches or just with a single crochet stitch??
@ItsCraftsyM
@ItsCraftsyM 2 ай бұрын
@@deeCee2646 for a decrease I would do the same by bringing the yarn under the hook on your first pull through the stitch. In my latest video on how to make a ball I show how to make an invisible decrease with yarn under. Regarding hdc or dc, yes you can yarn under them as well, but I usually don’t as for those stitches I prefer the fabric to be more drapy and yarn over works better for me in those cases

Weird bc the yarn over makes a cross shape that makes the projects much neater than yarn under. For year I was crocheting yarn under but later on found out about yarn over . But I'm also crocheting wrong side out with more delicate dolls now 😊
