Drove home all night last night from death valley. Got home after 24+ hours on the road. Tried to sleep in my truck in Reno because the casita door was locked tight. Freezing cold. Before i destroyed my screen to get in i watched this video. I assumed my lock had frozen and even bought a lighter at walmart in Reno and tried to heat it up. Sir, i did what you suggested and it worked like a charm! Thank you so much for posting👍

O m g …..this works. I’ve just bought a 1999 Matilda Clancy here in Australia and found myself locked out the first day I tried the lock! 😮. Watched this guy on YT and went straight outside and pushed firmly where the lock is whilst turning the key…..it unlocked ….just like that. You’ve saved me a big headache, being solo female driver, I now know why to do and can help others . Thanks so much from Down Under

Doug thank you for taking your time to make this video. I have a 1995 Monaco Dynasty 40’ rear pusher and have like so many others recently found myself locked out totally! Very common issues with large doors that use twin strikers. Two tiny adjusting points that tend to be hidden and not accessible without some serious time and effort. Your push to release method allowed me to regain access and open the door so I can now drill a pair of access holes so it will be easy to adjust the linkages as needed and then I’ll fabricate plates to cover the inspection holes! This is a good video as a third generation Locksmith I've seen a lot of those locks become grooved from the trailer rolling down the road and the lock latch rubbing the strike, Keeping this latch in the lock lubed with silicon grease helps greatly to keep the groove from happening in the pot metal latch, if they made the latch out of Stainless steel it would help a lot. There not going to do this because I planned obsolescence. For this type of lock you may use regular motor oil for the lock cylinder, where the key goes, graphite works for Penn Tumbler locks like your house locks but not so much for Wafer Tumblr locks like this one. Marvel mystery oil works very well here.

After watching the video and checking my latch and strike, I see a grove in my latch (Four Wheel Pop up camper). I was going to add a comment about wear, but decided to read through some and sure enough you beat me to the reason for the groove. Good to know as it would boggle my mind if the door suddenly wouldn't open and I never lock that latch, my door has a dead bolt for securing the door.

Thanks Doug, I have a 2023 Thor Vegas and have had to push on my door to open it. That was all good for a while. However I am now having issues exiting my RV..Im pulling and pushing and freaking out trying to exit. secondly my door now does not lock all the time and when driving it swung open. Thank God I was still on the property. I have multiple calls out to THOR and waiting to hear from them.

A credit card or screw driver would reach that lock. Notice it's facing inward? They open easily.

Yesterday we picked up our brand new 2023 wolf Pup, last evening we were showing it off to family and friends to fine out we were locked out.Thank goodness cargo hatch door was unlocked.Gradson crawled inside lifted one side bed up then got excess inside. I'm calling the dealership this morning to send someone 125 miles to fix this problem or take it back get my refund.

Watched this video but couldn't relate to it. I have a used Casita 2010 and didn't realize why I was having a problem with opening the door. I looked closer and looked at the bolt. It has worn a ledge as you said. So your insight has solved my issue. Thanks.

I really REALLY hope this works. Had to find a way in the camper the other day. My niece went on to too go through the top bedroom window/skylight but had one problem with that. So finally, since the dog had broken the plastic piece off the emergency exit handle, we were able to, not so carefully, shove her through the emergency exit. The one time I needed a window to break & it wasn't working. But we got in. Still have to fix the door tho.

good point, but if keys are locked inside , and you need to call a locksmith, just know the key turns to the left (anti clockwise) to unlock.

Have two bolt type extrusions along with door latch that go into striker plate. Bolts all of a sudden started hitting striker plate and door wouldn't close. Took it to dealer, said he bent striker plate back into position. Took it home, opened / closed twice, on third try, same thing. Wouldn't close. Entegra Esteem. Any ideas?

The key word is... ALWAYZZZ. LOCK UR CAMPER I had to push on my tiffin phaeton 40qbh a day after I purchased it & it did open so this is differently true story💯 but always hide a spare key 🔑 😉
