Interesting video, thank you. I read all the comments,and here’s my comment to the skeptics. I have built ordinary RV’s (junk) in 2 factories, I have lived full time in trailers, I’ve been a RV repair tech. Because of my extensive knowledge, I WOULD NOT EVER OWN ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FIBERGLASS TRAILER. We have a 1996 Casita Freedom Deluxe, it IS better built than trailers 10 times the cost PERIOD. 🔥💥💣😎

I think that anyone buying a new Casita should order it the way they want and not worry about resale potential. The market for these things is so tight now you can sell whatever you have very quickly anyway. I ordered mine with resale attractiveness in mind and have come to regret getting the awning (too fragile) and the outdoor shower (never used). No one ever told me about the solar wiring being available when I ordered (grrr!). I also wish I had omitted the decals on the outside (the factory will do that for you for free) as I have come to dislike them.

One thing I will say about Casita is that they don't do updates very often. This helps keep prices down as they use the same molds, etc. that they have been using for a while.

Casita is a small business and they have an assembly line and produce a very high-quality product. They have been around since the early eighties I think that's how they keep their prices low.

Love fiberglass trailers, lots of neat stuff. When I bought my RV trailer in 1999 24 foot coachmen non fiberglass, it came with something so important I would like to mention, it came with tandem axles ( 2 axles, 4 wheels on the ground) with torsion & sway bar attachment. I think this type of setup is very important for travel safety ( fish tailing & swaying), you can get this type of setup in fiberglass trailers but only in certain longer models & you gotta be rich. Nice presentation, happy camping, Orv

We didn’t get the electric jack, but I do use a cordless drill for the tongue jack and stabilizer jacks for our Casita. I’m glad we didn’t get the built in microwave too, it takes up too much valuable space We didn’t get the furnace, but use an electric heater at plug in campgrounds. It works great but yeah, there are those times we don’t have electricity and have to use a condensation causing portable propane heater. We have very similar curtains to you. The aluminum blinds were annoying. I’m in the process of installing a rooftop solar panel, so we can do more off grid camping during nice weather. Nice video, I always enjoy them

@@TravelsandTravails If I were doing it again, I would reconsider getting the built in propane heater, but I would have skipped the rather expensive Zamp solar panel and got my own for far cheaper, but solar was new to me and I wanted everything ready to use. I spent months reading and watching videos on Casita travel trailers so I don’t really have any real regrets. We also had them install more 12 volt outlets. I don’t think they offer that anymore. It looks like Casitas went up about $10,000 since we bought ours new in 2018.

Hi as a non driver and living in the UK, I feel they are very good value for money compared to a motor home especially as the weight compared to a metal shell will mean great savings on petrol "Gas". What sort of vehicle could pull one. Thank you very interesting.

Some good advice. We like watching your videos. We got everything but the microwave. We did install an RV AC SOFTSTART. This allows you to use a 15 AMP circuit to run your AC if you want to plug it in at home. Also, use a smaller generator. We have a 2000-watt duel fuel champion. Out 3500-watt Generator would get an overload. We have the TV and bout an external TV antenna. But most of the time we download shows on our laptop & use that to watch shows. When we picked up our Casita in 2019, they told us we only needed a sway bar for the Casita. So ask them about it. Remember if you can afford it, order it. It is better to need something & have it than need something & not have it.

Great information as usual! I only thing I would add is that we weren't able to see an actual Casita. We were given a list of prior customers, but one had sold it, one had never picked it up and we couldn't get a hold of the last. It could be because we're in S. Florida, if you were in the middle west you might have any easier time. We didn't want to buy one without seeing it, so we flew to the Casita factory. We were happy we did, since we were able to ask all the questions we had and see all the options. We're waiting delivery of our Independence and our delivery date is 2/21/23, which was 16 months out from when we ordered it.

What kind of solar panels did you use? Rigid or the flexibles? Could a convection microwave be used? Need to be able to bake some. Could a larger TV be used? maybe a 32inch? I am planing on the Multiplus 3000 inverter/converter with two SOK 205AH lithiums. I want to be able to run the AC for a short period if needed. I have a 1st gen Tundra which would be great for a tow vehicle. My interest is to boondock for extended periods. To compensate for the small fresh water tank I'm considering a 30 gallon water bladder to put in the back of the truck and use a small RV water pump to fill the fresh water tank as needed. Thanks for the time and effort that it takes to make these video's.

They assured me I didn’t need the Anderson but am getting the lesser option (can’t recall what it’s called but it helps with the towing). I also have some extras that are recommended by other Casita owners. I didn’t order the awning but I bought a Gazelle gazebo instead. No microwave. Got the furnace, outside shower for little doggie feet, AGM battery, solar port (I have panels that came with my Jackery 500), no electric tongue jack, couple other things. I had a small trailer that came with a hand crank jack and I preferred it over an electric jack because it was much faster, with very little effort. On my bigger trailer electric is definitely the way to go. I also never used a weight distribution hitch on my smaller trailer because the tongue weight was so light there simply was no need to distribute any weight. Sway is a function of tongue weight. Keep about 15 percent on the tongue and something like a Tacoma should have zero sway issues. My bigger trailer does have a weight distribution hitch and a sway bar, but I never use the sway bar because it is rock solid at any speed.

I ordered a freedom deluxe casita and am picking it up Feb 2023! I have a couple of questions about yours and hope you can help me. In the shower you have a shower curtain. Did you install the rod? Why have a shower curtain there since the bathroom door shuts and it is one big room? Is it just a regular size shower curtain liner? It may be a fabulous idea and I may want to get one. Also, you have something on the floor like a mat in the shower. What size is it and where did you buy it? Are there feet on the bottom that protects the floor? I know these may be basic questions but I am open to all of your suggestions. Thanks for explaining all the options on the casita. I will definitely take this video into consideration when choosing the options on my casita.
@TravelsandTravails2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy, Congratulations! The rod came with the Casita. The shower curtain protects the door, which is particle board. Plus, the water from the shower would run down the door and on the the floor outside the shower. Lastly, we keep our towels on the shower door and they would get wet if we didn't have a shower curtain. I had to hem the shower curtain because it was a little too long. Get the shower curtain that is made for a shower and not a bath rod. We have a teak mat inside the shower. It's 19.75 x19.75 and we have one in our Amazon Store that's a little less expensive than the one we have. We have the Sea Teak Brand. It does have feet on the bottom. Keep in mind that it's about 1 - 1 1/2 inches high, so if you're tall, you'll lose that amount of headroom.

We added a piece of metal to the top and hooked the rod on that . The metal just attaches to the screws on the top of the frame. I’ll do a video in the future. It will make more sense.

I am researching which one of these campers I want in a few years, but it seems that all of the dealerships are quite a distance from me, I'm in Virginia. How would this be delivered, or would I have to come pick it up? What is the best vehicle to tow it? How is it serviced, if there is no dealership nearby?
@TravelsandTravails Жыл бұрын
They have a delivery option or you can pick it up in Texas. The gross vehicle weight rating is 3500 lbs. so you’ll need a vehicle with a tow capacity more than that. Here’s more info.: travelsandtravails.com/how-to-buy-a-casita-camper/

If you have a 12 volt TV, yes. Technically, the TV runs off the battery which can be powered by solar. If you want to run it on 110v, you need an inverter and they are pricey.
