I have been a machinist for 14 years now, and 11 years in I decided that I was done working for other people from now on and started my own business with my twin brother whom is a welder of 14 years. It has definitely been the hardest 3 years of our lives but it is finally starting to pay off. We started from scratch, used to making a lot more money, to paying ourselves under minimum wage just to get the business going strong. Its makes it all worth it now when I smile every time I enter our shop and feel the pride for all that we created.

Watch a movie called "the astronaut farmer" it explains why. Basically if a tiny privately owned startup can do what NASA spent 10's of billions of dollars doing for just a few millions then WTF is the point of NASA. It exposes how wasteful and corrupt they are simply by doing it better for FAR FAR less money.

@@shatterpointgames Can you quote the actual statement in context, perhaps from a reputable news source where Neil Armstrong said he did support Space X at the time? Where Neil said anything remotely suggesting that he didn't think Elon wasn't a wack job that the government shouldn't waste a penny on? Or anything from Neil Armstrong stating that he has accepted in the past or plans to accept in the future an invitation from Elon to "come see the work we are doing". Does it surprise anyone that a new era of space travel would make the old one fade further into the history books and those who were credited for pioneering it would rather their legacy stand as long as possible as a still unattainable feet. What was the name of the first person to sail across open ocean? People use to know I bet but once thousands of people did it every day nobody knew or cared to know anymore. The same is true of every other aspect of human existence. You get short notability for being the first, then it becomes common place, then nobody cares who did it.

@@K162KingPin Neal Armstrong basically said that Nasa can't depend on private space companies to explore the cosmos. And he wasn't wrong, without Nasa Spacex would be nothing. There was a lot of nuance to what he said, the speech was over 10 minutes long. Sure you'll probably watch it with the bias that he was dunking on spacex and hear what you want to hear.

I wouldn't say that i hate Elon Musk. In fact, credit where credit is due, SpaceX, PayPal, and Tesla are functioning businesses (Though SpaceX is struggling according to some leaked documents and might go bankrupt if they don't get Starship going twice a month by the end of the year, and don't get me wrong, id love to live in a world where regular spaceflights with cargo capacity of 100+ tons to LEO become reality) My big problem, however, are his fans who uncritically believe every single word he says, then dismiss anyone who disagrees with arguments like "Well do you have a bachelor in physics?" when you show them with hard numbers that what he came up with simply cannot work in terms of physics. What makes this even worse is that city planners and the media buy into it. The reason this makes it even worse imo is that some cities end up spending considerable amounts of budget on "solutions" that, when you crunch the numbers, are outclassed by ones that already exist in every way. Look at the Vegas Loop for instance. The Vegas Loop has a total of 70 cars. Each car has a driver, meaning you can transport 3 people a vehicle, or 210 people at a time at maximum usage. However, because they ran the entire thing underground, they dug tunnels (which did not have the intended effect of avoiding gridlock, these tunnels also have traffic jams) which cost some 47 million to build. Alternatively, instead of building the Vegas Loop, you could have bought 4 articulated buses, each with a capacity of 200 people and made a dedicated bus lane on the adjacent road, for a total cost of about 800k dollars (plus the maintainance cost would be lower, as 4 vehicles are easier to maintain than 70). This way, you'd have twice the transport capacity (assuming you keep two of the buses in reserve in case one breaks down) for a fraction of the cost. But of course, a US city planner would never do this when you can have the flashier option that is inferior in every other way, except that people will call you innovative for using a new, worse solution for a problem we've known the solution to for decades. THIS is my problem with Elon Musk.
@carinalindberg7377
@carinalindberg7377 3 жыл бұрын
@@Chrischi3TutorialLPs So basically what you are not liking is the fact that you don't understand having visions about the future that aren't not anchored in the familiar past, because this is where Elon's strength lays, his ability to think greater than the circumstances for solutions oit of the box. The thing is that those who act have to believe in it too, and if they don't the results will reflect that. It's hot nothing to do with Elon. Frankly, those who do not see the greatness of what he's doing, and I'm not taking about how companies but the fact that he's showing ALL of us that we have the power to be great and create greatness. Of course, these days science tells us how to do it. Either way, anytime you look at someone and think and feel that you have a problem with them it's about you, and when this person has loads and loads to teach them loss is yours. He's not a freaking miracle man that is here to save anyone, he's a human being and as such he's not perfect. Why are you judging him for not being one? Oh, and no, I'm not a huge fan of Elon, but I do understand that what he's doing is remarkable and for this he deserves respect and appreciation.
@Chrischi3TutorialLPs
@Chrischi3TutorialLPs 3 жыл бұрын
@@carinalindberg7377 That isnt my problem. My problem is that he proposes solutions that, if you run the numbers, are a waste of money at best, and that people then proceed to pour money into it when we already have solutions that outclass what he did in both cost and effectiveness by a factor of 100, like running 2 buses along a dedicated bus lane instead of digging a fucking tunnel to run 70 cars through. Hell, even if you insist on the tunnel, we have better solutions, such as making it a subway track. Not one city in history, in the US or otherwise, has solved its traffic problems by adding more lanes, in fact, doing that consistently makes the problem worse. Adding even more lanes, just in the third dimension instead of only in two, won't magically change this fact. And besides, as stated above, i do appreciate his work with things like SpaceX, PayPal, and Tesla, because those actually produce things that work. Hell, do you think i don't want to live in a world where launching 100+ tons into orbit in one go becomes economical? I'd love to see that world, and with how the SLS is shaping up, to be honest, Starship is the only heavy lifter i have any hope in. Like i said, my problem with Elon Musk is that the things he comes up with are uncritically accepted by everyone, no matter how much of a demonstrably bad idea the things he comes up with are. Thinking out of the box is a good thing, yes, but it doesn't always lead to functional approaches. People came up with the idea of moving traffic in congested cities underground over a century ago. London has had subways since 1863. You know what no city in the world has though? Underground highways. Wanna know why? Because adding lanes never makes traffic better, no matter how much big oil pays city planners to pretend so. Go look it up, it's called induced demand.

The Shinkansen bullet trains in Japan cover hundreds of Km and are less cost efficient than flying. Building hundreds of miles of maglev inside a low pressure tube would cost even more. As Elon as made the plans and design open source, every company that has taken up the project has canned it. Not because "they're just not as smart as Lord Musk", but because it's an impractical idea. Solar roofs are probably not going to be around for long, due to so many class action lawsuits about incorrect pricing. (And they only have a 25 year warranty, FYI, no idea where you got 100year) Even before the "incorrectly calcuclated costs", Tesla solar roofs where more expensive than traditional, AND you had to cover the entire roof, including sides that don't face the sun, total waste. FSD Beta is...well first off 9.0 is still Beta...and more importantly, it's a beta of a level 2 autonomous system, which is only classified as driver assist, not self driving. "Full-self driving" is ad-speak, in the fine print it clarifies that it's not level 3-4 autonomous driving. As a product it's a failure, as a marketing branding, it's dangerous for ignorant drivers.

But I think gold's market cap at $7 doge is attainable in just a few years. 5 years if doge only doubles year over year and we just put this years price at 20 cents. As an adult that suffers with being on the Autism spectrum, i can relate to most of what he says, i have the same interests and my mind works in a similar way. Elon never set out to be successful or to be a billionaire, that was never the goal, instead, he was true to himself and understood how his minds worked and used that ability and applied it to his his life. Many of us never figure out why we are here or what we shouldbe doing, the internal battle of your autistic functioning mind is so great that for most of us it blocks the path ahead. Elon has overcome that by chance and its allowed him to keep moving forward. Elon suffers with terrible emotional states from extreme highs to extreme lows, but the barrier he broke kept pushing him forward. If you ask the rights questions, Elon will cry, he doesn’t have the ability to lie of mislead people, all he seeks is the truth, like many people on the spectrum.

And he's so right. How many people have said "I wish I could just stay home and not work anymore, gosh I'd be so happy". I had that opportunity and after just a month, I got bored of waking up, having coffee, and sitting in my chair. God has ordained all of us to have a reason to get up everyday, that's why you wake up. To then literally do nothing or only self pleasure activities leads to a feeling of emptiness from no accomplishments. I'm guilty of always thinking of ways to get ahead or how to solve my problems. But, when I finally just stop and allow myself to relax, the path becomes more clear and wisdom take back over and not just humanistic "speed thinking" of trying to solve tomorrow's problems today.

He is a good and very hard worker but when it comes to him as a person, he is a very shitty person.

Wow, your faith in humanity is tied to other people? That must suck knowing they'll let you down to build themselves up....... my faith in humanity rests with me because I know I won't give in to selfishness at my races expense.....

Elon Musk is a genius, he is driven and dedicated. He lives a difficult life, even from childhood. I admire what he has done with Tesla, solar, now space and rumored he will come up with a new phone. His projects consume him leaving little time for his family. I can't imagine being married to him because he is married to his work. He cares about his employees, has a soft heart and deserve our respect for the risks he has/is taking. He should be an inspiration for young people to set high goals and work hard Disappointing our past astronauts feel space should be in the hands of our government when Elon can things done much faster. He is a legend! I do hope he takes some time to relax a little for his health, well-being and family.

I couldn’t imagine being married too Elon. Right after his first wedding he told his new wife that he was the alpha in the relationship and kept wanting her to not be as bad as she is.

My brother is a teacher and he says a large amount of young kids are inspired by Elon Musk and want to be engineers and stuff when they're older. That's the most inspiring person in my opinion, much more inspiring than an actor or musician
