If you lift your Tacoma or any vehicle for that matter, you may run into issues if you ever need to change your flat. The added travel and ride height of your vehicle may eliminate your ability to safely use your OEM jack. Here are two great products that offer a solution, while also making lifting your vehicles safer and far easier!

Also make sure you have a similar sized spare especially if you've gone from 265's to 285.

Yeah, I'm wondering about that. 285s won't fit under the bed

@@DrivenCompanion it does, at least with my UltraTerrain 285/70r17 fit. Granted it's tight, but if you BFH the tabs it clears more space.

You put the jack on the wrong spot that’s why it didn’t make it. Look at the photo on the jack itself and you will see it goes on the cross member and not the frame rails. You lose 2” by going in the frame rail, perhaps more. The cross member is much lower to the ground. This is how my 4runner is. Your new jack does look much safer but I would just carry a small 4x4 with me to gain 3”
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 жыл бұрын
The photo on the jack appears to show the location I used. You could use the cross member to get the needed height, but I feel like using that may also decrease stability.

Almost $300 bucks for a bottle jack and another $150 for the "Tray"? Total ripoff. You can get a genuine "Hi-Lift" on Amazon with free shipping and the base plate for $98. Best 4X4 jack ever made!

I gotta stop watching your videos! Making me want a Tacoma! Can you please do a video on how the mpg and transmission feels after the bigger tires and lift? A lot of people say regearing is a must otherwise it feels too sluggish, wanted to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Haven't really tested them enough yet to give a solid answer but there is a definite drop in power that I didn't noticed with my first tire upgrade.

Or on the cheap carry 1 or 2 pieces of 2x4 wood so that it would give you some leverage and reach. Just throw it in the trunk. Will come handy.

That’s some nasty rust under your truck there Mike. May want to try some fluid film to stop (or at least give it a few more years) that rust from destroying your truck....

Looks like a lot of surface rust on your frame, are you using Fluid Film or a similar treatment. I use Mavcoat Steel Shield. With the Tacoma's frame history, you might want to look at a similar product.
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 жыл бұрын
You must be seeing dirt. There’s zero rust on the frame and they don’t salt our roads so it’s unlikely that’ll be an issue. Appreciate the suggestion though!

Actually the bottle/ hydrulic jack can fail. It does not have a safety pin, in comparison with the oem one, that has a stop block pin mechanism. I would never go under the car with a bottle jack without jack stands.
