I have recently just discovered NDT through KZbin videos. The more I watch him, the more I respect him more then anybody else. His levels of intelligence are probably extreme, but he doesn't come off as a pedantic jerk. He seems to respect everyone, even if they don't agree with him, and doesn't try to dissuade anybody from personal beliefs. An above average mind, with an average joe personality. Just awesome.

"As my parents did not do for me, I don't want to tell [my kids] what to be interested in, because then their life's passion will be false. The only way you know it's real is if it girdles up from within. Then, you can become the world's expert in it, and people will beat a path to your door, because you'll be doing it, not because someone told you, not because someone offered you money, not for any other reason but because it stimulated your deepest core curiosity about how this world works." Good quote.

+JanetStarChild presumably not. By people of all ages all the way up the their 60s actually. Beer and ale is a much bigger thing here than it is in the US. Mainly because our beer doesn't taste like fizzy piss!
@TonecrafteLuthiery
@TonecrafteLuthiery 8 жыл бұрын
JanetStarChild The beer reference was just my was of saying that I would like to have a conversation with him. Where I come from when you want to hang out with someone you usually say, "you wanna go get a beer or something". I don't like beer myself. I don't really drink, but when I do I only really drink scotch. If I were to actually have the chance to hang out with him we probably wouldn't be drinking. It would dilute the conversation and I probably wouldn't be able to get into the depth I would want to go into. Off topic, I've sent several dozen physics questions into the Hayden Planetarium.

Perhaps one of the more interesting people that Larry King has interviewed and he couldn't seem more disinterested in the answers and actually engaging in a conversation. And if all you're there to do is ask questions, then don't interrupt the answer. It shows that Larry's goal is to complete the task and nothing more.

what’s funny to me is that in using the metaphor about “carving” something, which initially gives the viewer an image of him carving/whittling wood, he actually ended up not being concise at all having to explain what he meant. great clip.

Thanks for this interest in my interview -- the last 7 minutes of a longer 30 min conversation, posted separately. I knew in advance of Larry KIng's "cutoff" style. It's a purposeful tactic to keep conversations in motion. That's what accounts for some of the energy at the end of my answers - knowing that if I got loud and animated he'd be less likely to interrupt at that moment. I gave all of each answer that I wanted, so no harm, no foul. And yes, those were real NYC street sirens. -NDTyson
