Wise words Cat. You are such a bright light in this community, we are lucky to have you. I think all of us who share our content online have feelings that we aren't good enough from time to time - especially when we compare ourselves to others. But each of us as something unique to bring to the community just by nature of us being different human beings. We are also our own worst critics. What you see is not what we see. Trust yourself. You got this.

Beautiful words my friend! I remember Helen talking about this a long time ago, and I always thought to myself- if she has these feelings than I'm in good company :)

Hi!😊 This is amazing insights and very comforting and inspiring! I don’t consider myself a perfectionist but I have this trait, feeling, belief, I don’t know the word, if I do something, I put my heart into it. I can’t go halfsies. If my hearts not in it, I’m not doing it, if I’m doing it my hearts in it and I’m going to do it to the best of my ability. I don’t know if there’s a word for that but that’s my mindset. So when I plan and journal, it needs to be me, like what I’m feeling and what feels right, but it’s never “perfect”. Crooked washi happens a lot or a crinkled page, scribbles when I misspell a word and I don’t often get the newest cutest stickers from all of the beautiful sticker shops and I’m 100% good with all of that because at the end of the day, my books are a true reflection of me and my life, which is kindof my goal lol and since we’re sharing and chatting (I love your chitchat with Cat videos, it’s like hanging out with a cup of tea and planner bestie!) I don’t often struggle with feeling I’m not enough, my struggle has been with “I’m too much”. I’ve had experiences when I’m told I’m too bubbly, too loving, too excited, too nice, too whatever word they wanted to use and I would regularly feel like I was just too much. Lots of time with myself and learning I now know I’m me and that’s exactly who I should be but one of my favorite things about the planner community is when I get excited about stickers and paper, we share that excitement together. Even if I love the pink bears and you love the pastel flowers, we’re excited together and sharing our interest together. No one’s ever said you’re too excited about stickers, you love that notebook too much and I think that kindof support is amazing. Anyway, I really loved this video and I hope we all feel and know that we can share in this hobby and community together because that’s what makes it so great, that we all are so different but come together over our shared interest! You definitely made so many amazing and positive points and inspired me to think about things too! Thank you so much Cat!!❤

Hi, Cat! Honestly, I am not a perfectionist. I decided a long time ago, to make any 'unfortunate' marks in my planner become 'art.' I've used stickers and they are fun, but I really prefer to do my own artwork. I want my planner to look nice, but it is only seen by me, since I don't share my planner on any social media. Also, I no longer keep my planners more than 2 years. Anything in a planner I want to keep for longer needs to be photographed. This way, I can practice letting go, which was always a much bigger problem for me than perfectionism. My planner is a tool that I use to keep life organized and help me with building new habits and improving my overall experience and I try to stay in my lane with that. Thanks for the video! I really enjoy watching!

Im with you on perfectionism. For me I have issues with perfectionism for everything, add that to my ADHD brain and it makes a fun combo. and leads to projects coming to a complete halt, or not sticking to routines because my brain likes to randomly skip things or forget about them entirely and if I don't keep up with things like my planer on a daily basis than I just get behind, which makes it even harder to get back on track.

You’re not alone in this my friend! A lot of my students struggle with this as well. You’re awesome! And I have to remind myself that there’s no such thing as perfectionism, even though I strive to maintain it. I just have to embrace being me- flaws and all and be okay with it😊

A few years ago I started really working on letting go of perfectionism. It's hard but I think I'm getting better at it every day. My mantra has become: done is better than perfect.

Thanks for your openness! I tend to compare my planners with those who are more detailed, more artistic or just “more”. I’m working on reminding myself that I use planners for myself and to have more color in my life. I have to have an electronic calendar for work…I also have a paper one and loosely color code some things. I love pens and markers and when I make a mistake, I’m doodling over it instead of putting myself down. I appreciate your words and encouragement!!

Oh wow I could totally relate to this, because as you know, I'm also an English teacher and I take home a lot of guilt because students don't seem to care anymore. Also, I struggle with ever feeling like I'm enough... you know... since I was a kid. Haha. This was such a breath of fresh air!

Definitely a recovering perfectionist here. These days, I’m like “done is better than perfect” for a lot of things. Still have some instances where it pops up, but I’m able to acknowledge it when it happens. 😊

Hello, Cat! Hope life is kinder to you ❤ So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Thank you for the calm, insightful video. I'm a recovering perfectionist, and although I still struggle with it in other aspects of my life, I've learned to embrace my planner typos and imperfections. They are there to capture my thoughts and memories, and they do that just fine even with all the mistakes 😅

I look back through my 70 years knowing more than ever that planning has been a skill I am so grateful to have. Being a person who is intuitive is often a person who is also a planner as there is the sense of the knowing that there is a reason for it. In a sense being our best self at this skill is what we strive for, using our time wisely and listening to that inner voice, God. It is easy to spend time redoing, rethinking, it is a dance, a balance, at times it is necessary to be as the world calls it a perfectionist. It is for us to decide for ourselves not the world when we are being our best self, using this skill wisely and with the God given resources we have been given. It is a true gift to be an empath, a planner, a person who at the end of the day knows they gave it their all. I feel that describes you so please do not be hard on yourself, the world is grateful for you, the community and the students see that light in your eyes.

I did mainly digital planning for 3 years and now that I’m trying to stick with physical versions, I am really struggling with perfectionism hard, and missing my undo button. I have such a fear of a “wasted” daily page, and even more, wasted supplies on that page.
