Amazing Liel. Thank you for this video! Hashem was/is truly speaking to me through your message today. So easy to fall into the rat race and to be affected by others (especially family members) perceptions and opinions on success and the need for money/material things. But the truth is that without the weathly mindset nothing will ever be enough and one will never be satisfied. So profound! Thank you! Blessings!

I was like that as a child, like Jacob. I valued exactly what you said, saying that I've got enough. I didn't have the desire to get wealthy. Then stupidly I started watching the rest of the world, and everybody it seems wanted to get wealthy, so I stupidly started doing some of that, even to the point of hurting a girlfriend many years ago, for a superficial reason that I won't mention. Then I feel guilty because I'm not like the rest of the world, I was just like jacob. And I fuss at myself when I don't win at sports... Hopefully I'll be able to apply what you said and go back to that earlier identity, and not feel bad for being that way. Because it's actually the best way. Thank you for this video. It helped me a lot. 😊. I've just watched half the video so far but I've gotten that much out of it already😊.

Let's start by saying that the Torah is a newspaper, meaning that it contains extraordinary things. If we read about two characters in the Torah who are opposite to each other, it indicates that these represent two sides within a person that must exist in harmony. The difference between Esau and Jacob lies in the appreciation and importance each attributes to divinity and physicality. Now, to the story: Esau, despite God giving him the birthright to be the firstborn, did not see it as something precious but rather as something that could be traded for food. Esau embodies the essence of "for myself," and "here and now." Consequently, he lost the birthright (eternity) in exchange for food (temporary). Jacob, on the other hand, regarded closeness to God as the most sublime thing and was therefore willing to sacrifice food (physical survival) for that closeness to God (spiritual survival). Jacob represents the essence of "for God." In the narrative, we see that no one accepts their place in the system and strives for a position that is not theirs: Esau gives up the birthright, while Jacob desires both the birthright and the blessing. (Some view Esau as a mentally limited grown-up child and Jacob as the brother who is supposed to take care of him. In other words, rather than asking, "Am I my brother's keeper?" Jacob asserts, "I am my brother's keeper!"). In our lives, at any given moment, we sometimes feel compelled to choose between longing for the eternal closeness to God or opting for the "here and now," i.e., the body's needs. This presents a choice between lowering our heads to eat grass and raising them to learn from the divine-between being an animal and being a human being. And what is the solution? "Man and animal, God will save," meaning that we must embody both. In other words, we must allow the Esau within us to learn from our Jacob how God is the main focus in our lives, rather than all other things. However, at the same time, our Jacob must treat Esau and his physical needs with respect. The physical body is considered animalistic and therefore requires its physical needs, while the soul needs its divine sustenance. When these two opposing sides work in harmony, Esau will remain Esau, and Jacob will remain Jacob-each with his own abilities, actions, and the purpose for which he was created (otherwise, he would not have been created). They will operate in harmony rather than in opposition to each other. And the result? A state called the "Tree of Life," symbolizing the connection between the earth and the sky, the earthly and the divine, the eternal and the temporal, the finite and the infinite. How will the story unfold when everything is done correctly? Jacob's blessing will come to him through taking care of Esau and his needs. And what about Esau's blessing? It will come to him through listening to Jacob's guidance.

Excellent lesson! Thank you! Does the fact that one's goal is to be grateful for their portion mean that Western civilization (which has produced such an incredible wealth, including healthcare, and has extended the total average lifespan, reduced death in childbirth, etc.) is no better than primitive hunting and gathering, since hunters and gatherers may have been able to be grateful for what they had? If Western civilization is indeed preferable, then doesn't that say greed is good, since the acquisition of more wealth is closely associated with the incentive to be productive?

Yes feminine aspects appear in the Hebrew rendering of G-d however the masculine aspects of HaShem out numbers the former. . Every aspect of HaShem is extremely holy which is why referring to Ha Kadosh Barachu in an exclusive female manner does not do justice ⚖️♎ it feels unbalanced. Maybe you're an extremely woke feminist 😢.

Liel Eden, perhaps do a video on what events lead you to go from “growing up secular” to “confident religious expert.” I think viewership would be very interested & intrigued. Your life experience may qualify you as a Ba’ al Teshuva. A Ba’ al Teshuva is infinitely more valuable than a non-Ba’ al Teshuva as a Ba’ al Teshuva has life experiences than can not be obtained any other way other than first growing up in a secular household.

The distinction between internality and externality is crucial. The externality is necessary for the internality to function properly in a specific context, which aligns with the external appearance. This relationship underscores the importance of externality in allowing internality to operate effectively within a designated space. Now try to think about those who don't know this, and those who appear Jewish on the outside, but whose inner self has nothing to do with Judaism.

I see Jacob in exactly the opposite way: He ALWAYS Wanted MORE than he was given: he held on to the heel of his older brother at birth. He deceived so he could get what was not rightfully his: both the birth-right and the blessing. So God honored Jacob precisely because he wanted the more excellent position rather than just accept what was dished out to him.
@charleslind480713 күн бұрын
G-d would not have had his name changed unless he really deserved his name to not be Yakov but G-d had his name changed to Yisroel. If it was not proper for him to receive the blessing he would not have gotten it. He did it b/c his mother wanted him to, not b/c he wanted it.
@Dr.CorneliaKratzer13 күн бұрын
@@charleslind4807 Yes but your comment confirms what I said: Jacob was not content with what he had. He always wanted more even in his mother's womb. But God honored that: Wanting more! Even when Jacob's means of getting more were more than questionable and dishonest, God still approved of wanting more in both the spiritual realm and the natural realm than what would naturally have been allotted to him. There are many examples when God reversed the natural order of hierarchy or what would have been due to a person: David was the youngest and lowest and yet he was pulled out and the natural order of the first-born was toppled.
@Dr.CorneliaKratzer13 күн бұрын
Of course as Christians we believe the LAW and it's natural order has been toppled by GRACE. The Law is there to show us God's requirements but then God's Grace surpasses the Law. There are many stories in the OT that foreshadow this Grace that surpasses the Law: such as the story of Jacob.

Matthew 6:25-26, 28-33 ESV [25] “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? [28] And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, [29] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? [31] Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ [32] For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. [33] But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you

No. He said he had everything because he wanted no room for Esau to offer poisoned items. To say "everything" is meant to prevent any gift whatsoever. Because its common to poison food, water, or clothing to sabatoge enemies just like it was common to divide ranks or send emissaries as Jacob did both. If Jacob believed God only, he wouldnt have sent emissaries or divided ranks. These are profane actions indicative of the times, just like rejecting gifts from an attacker was also common. As for Esau not attending Abraham's funeral, the book of Jasher says he was killing Nimrod during this time. Because he was in a fight he couldnt eat or have freedom. Its very disingenuous to omit this from Esaus decision making process and shows the dishonesty and untrustworthiness of Judaism.
@michaelchapman777914 күн бұрын
You’re not only incorrect and making a separate antisemitic/denigrating remark, you’re also citing a truly lost book which has only had forgeries as claims to being the “true lost book of Jasher” Not very great.
@mkrafts851914 күн бұрын
@michaelchapman7779 You are the one who is incorrect and antisemetic/denigrating. As for sources, you didn't even offer any.
@emunahashem14 күн бұрын
That’s one opinion which can easily be true, but doesn’t take away from what I said. He could have said no bc he didn’t want to be poisoned but also bc that was his perspective on life. Yesh li kol. Can both be true at the same time. Secondly, Jacob only ever put his faith in God, but he understood a very important concept which is not to rely on miracles. We have to work with the nature of this world, using logic, but always reminding ourselves it’s all a veil, and that in truth it’s all only God. Thirdly, never heard of nimrod before but don’t deny that it can’t be true. Once again however doesn’t take away from what I said. Really it pushes my point further. That esav was so stuck on how evil he was, he only thought negatively about himself. Leading him to sell the birthright in that moment. Your statement that he couldn’t eat is disproved bc he eats the lentil soup. I don’t how you confused that Judaism is trustworthy or dishonest. It’s simply the Torah/bible. If you believe in that, you believe in Judaism.
@mkrafts851914 күн бұрын
@emunahashem Why do you say "Jacob learned the concept not to rely on miracles."? Is there a specific Jewish teaching on that? Secondly, yes as the book of Jasher or Jubilees explains, can't remember which, the reason Esau came from the field hungry is precisely because he just escaped Babylon where he killed king Nimrod. Nimrod is the same king who tried to kill Abraham. So it puts Esau in a favorable light which makes your explanations in poor taste for anyone who knows this background.
@mkrafts851914 күн бұрын
@emunahashem Yes I'm not disagreeing with the spirit of your teaching. Only that it's not good from that particular story. This particular story regarding Jacob and Esau was in the context of Jacob showing doubt and fear because he was feeling guilty of his own evil. To cherry pick one piece as a moral good is out of context. But yes I'm not saying it was a bad teaching.
