Felt that I should share, my grandmother lived her life by doing her best to not break any of God's commandments, went to confession regularly. She went to mass every Sunday and received communion, bore 7 children with the same husband, raised them well and said the rosary regularly. A moment before she expired in a hospital bed, surrounded by most of her children she looked towards them and said, 'My poor children'. She then turned her gaze upwards towards the ceiling, smiled and spoke these last words before expiring peacefully, 'Ohhh how beautiful!' IMHO She saw heaven and is surely there now.

I am a adult convert to Catholicism, following a reverent upbringing in a Protestant faith, and something I love about being Catholic is the sense that Christ yearns for us as a lover, passionately. His Sacred Heart is in raptures when we meet Him in the sacraments. Our holy priests, like Fr. Goring, know this, and that is why they are willing to lay down their lives for Holy Mother Church. They are wedded to the Church in persona Christi, as the bridegroom longs for the bride. +JMJ+

@@zionlion4445 I had to kill who I truly am in order to be accepted. I became everything to everyone, the ultimate people pleaser. My best hope on Earth is to be tolerated. My best hope is for my life to end in a near future so I could, hopefully, land in purgatory and be done with the shame, inferiority, inadequacy, anxiety, despair etc. I feel like mine has been a reasonable sentence. I truly feel like I did the best with the hand I was given. I can't even conceive that I could have another 30 or 40 years of sentence left. Purgatory would be a much better deal. Life, as much as I tried to make it work, is not for me. God seemed to have decreed lack, adversity and misery for me. It truly is strange. Almost impossible to truly believe that God loves me. My life is a powerful testament that he doesn't. Also, strange that Fr. Mark mentioned the pantheists' idea of returning to nonexistence. I have this idea that God snatched me from nonexistence, where I lacked nothing, for a brutal life where i would lack many things. I can't wrap my head around that a good God would create me knowing not once in my life would I be authentically happy to be alive. I never knew what it's like to be fully human. Self-protection and not being humiliated, thought of as les than have been my main focus. I am, objectively, a loser. There are millions like me, but I'm not them, I have to live with/as the pot of clay the potter decided to make (me). Life is good, great even, but *only to the degree* that you are equipped to live it well. It's great that God loves me as loser, but he doesn't have to face life and others as a joke, I do. So, if I could have made the choice myself, I wish I hadn't been conceived. Because it was day 1, minute 1 of much misery and being plagued by a plethora of things. Begging for this, for that, only helps minimally. Let this year be my final year. Amen.

I love Fr. Goring! He glows with the Holy Spirit. I love it that he has publicly mentioned that he is a virgin (just in an offhand way--he wasn't bragging, though it is certainly a beautiful accomplishment). I'm a literature teacher, and when I do medieval or chivalric lit with students, I like to mention that part of the knightly code was maintaining virginity in single life, because it takes the strength of self-control that belongs to authentic masculinity to practice that self-discipline. (Matthieu 7:21) Not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of God. Roman Catholics do not obey the 2nd and 4th commandments of God according to (Exodus 20 or Deuteronomy 5). (Revelation 22:14) Blessed are they THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
@atgred10 ай бұрын
Call no man “father”? Perhaps the most pointed New Testament reference to the theology of the spiritual fatherhood of priests is Paul's statement, "I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14-15). Jesus criticized Jewish leaders who love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called 'rabbi' by men". He was using hyperbole to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers. Jesus is not forbidding us to call men "fathers" who actually are such-either literally or spiritually. He is warning people against inaccurately attributing fatherhood-or a particular kind or degree of fatherhood-to those who do not have it. As the apostolic example shows, some individuals genuinely do have a spiritual fatherhood, meaning that they can be referred to as spiritual fathers. What must not be done is to confuse their form of spiritual paternity with that of God. Ultimately, God is our supreme protector, provider, and instructor. Correspondingly, it is wrong to view any individual other than God as having these roles. Peter followed the same custom, referring to Mark as his son: "She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings; and so does my son Mark" (1 Pet. 5:13). The apostles sometimes referred to entire churches under their care as their children. Paul writes, "Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you; for children ought not to lay up for their parents, but parents for their children" (2 Cor. 12:14); and, "My little children, with whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you!" (Gal. 4:19). John said, "My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1 John 2:1); "No greater joy can I have than this, to hear that my children follow the truth" (3 John 4). In fact, John also addresses men in his congregations as "fathers" (1 John 2:13-14). By referring to these people as their spiritual sons and spiritual children, Peter, Paul, and John imply their own roles as spiritual fathers. Since the Bible frequently speaks of this spiritual fatherhood, we Catholics acknowledge it and follow the custom of the apostles by calling priests "father." Failure to acknowledge this is a failure to recognize and honor a great gift God has bestowed on the Church: the spiritual fatherhood of the priesthood.

@@mec325When Christ was asked about the commandments He summarized them in two. So? Did He skip over the 2nd and 4th as you point out!?!? Well, the Catholic Church also has summarized some of this commandments. For us, the commandment of not having “other gods” and “images of them” is put together with the 1st commandment in our Catechism. The images we have in our houses or in Church we call them ICONS. That means representations of what they portray. And no, THEY ARE NOT GODS, as God clearly stated in Exodus 20:3!! Because in the literal sense of Exodus 20:4 and forth has to be read IN LIGHT of verse 3.

It is a light so different from ours that shines from the sun, that in comparison the sun seems very dim, this light so bright that after seeing it one cannot even open his eyes. Not yet has sun or light had any resemblance to that light. Besides, our forms of light seem rather artificial and that one only natural: light without sunset, that nothing can disturb it because it is eternal, of such force that nobody could even imagine it, not even a great genius that contemplated it for life.” - St. Teresa of Avila ♥️ “I learned in the Heart of Jesus that in heaven itself there is a heaven to which not all, but only chosen souls, have access. Incomprehensible is the happiness in which the soul will be immersed. 0 my God, oh, that I could describe this, even in some little degree. Souls are penetrated by His divinity and pass from brightness to brightness, an unchangeable light, but never monotonous, always new though never changing. 0 Holy Trinity, make yourself known to souls!” - St. Faustina (Diary 592) ♥️ Viva Cristo Rey! ♥️

All of existence, everything that exists from the farthest galaxies to our own minds, we are all in God's mind, in his creation in his mind where everything began. We exist in God's own mind and we are real because God thought it all into being. God made everything in his thoughts, and it's so perfectly arranged that all of his thoughts give us the very existence that we are experiencing. His only begotten Son was put here in his mind, as real as anything in creation, to give all of his people, all his thoughts salvation and everlasting light. God's own feelings are our feelings. His love is our love. His hurt is our hurt. That is why he gave us Jesus, so we can retreat from the wrong and the hurt and the confusion, and accept his love and love each other even with our faults. Be forgiving, be humble and show mercy towards everyone in your mind and in your heart. Love who the Lord has made you to be and give that love to everyone you think of and everyone you meet and know that God himself has you, each of you, all of us, individually held in his heart which is his mind. How big is the universe? God's mind is the universe.

God is so glorious as he has created each of us as individuals, for year's I have noticed how we all look so differently & have all of our own personalities along with gifts of the Holy Spirit 🕊️. How glorious it will be when we are in Union with God & all in worship & praising Alleluia alleluia 🙏🙏🕯️

I just learned from one of the Ascension lectures that great prophets (as well as great priests and leaders) ‘comfort the afflicted and afflict the comforted’ - Fr. Mark Goring, think you have done that in this homily! What an amazing imagery to be comforted in midst of fire. Exactly the light of God! He is mercy. He is Love. He is compassion. Thank you Father 😊

When your surrounded by fire,the light will show your innocence or guilt. When you are innocent you can sing and dance knowing you are GOOD with God.

This is a great way to see this story. Never thought about it. I pray that the lords holy fire heals my soul and purifies it of all the sins I can’t shake on my own. So is he’ll just being as far from gods physical presence as possible while still existing? While the saints and future saints in purgatory are closer to God but have no vice to the flame.

I love the ocean scenes so beautiful The only thing that could be better is, if we could have the sounds of the waves as we see the ocean view ..
