@dna3930 yeah, buying ladybugs is a terrible thing to do. They take them from the wild, ship them off hundreds of miles for money, and after all that... you release them and they'll be gone from your garden after a day or two. Ladybug populations are very geographically specific, and ladybugs have been studied and proven to return back to where they came from. The only way to get a garden full of ladybugs is to make a garden enticing to beneficial insects. Part of that means absolutely no pesticides. Pesticides will kill ladybugs, and not only that, they kill all the ladybugs food. A garden with no pest bugs won't be enticing to a ladybug. It takes time to build a little ecosystem inviting to all!

We have them in the UK and call them Ladybirds. There are different varieties identified in most cases by the number of spots and their colour. They can bite and can also draw blood, but they are mainly harmless. Back in the '70's we had a couple of big population surges of them and many people received bites from them. They, and especially their larvae, are great for keeping down the aphid populations.

@@ethzzexists I would guess that I am much older than you? The Ladybird book company was founded in 1867 and the Ladybird has always been its trademark since then and so the term Ladybird, relating to that insect, has been used for more than many decades even before my birth as well as the advent of Ladybird Books. There is also a rhyme, 'Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home, your house is on fire, your children all gone.' This also predates the Ladybug term by many years. I have no issue with the term Ladybug, but this is an Americanism that has become more prevalent in relatively recent times, probably due to many American films, TV and cartoon programmes. Not to be a nitpick, but they aren’t necessarily the best unless you have a severe aphid problem. Asian Lady Beatles, as they are referred to, which are the more yellowish/irregularly spotted “ladybugs” are actually invasive. Once they eat all of the existing aphids, they will move onto a new food source like available fruits. So you don’t want an infestation, more like a couple will be fine- but they will multiply like crazy.

Ladybeetles are carnivorous insects. They may bite people, but only as a warning mechanism, it should do nothing more than sting just a tiny bit. I say that, but there is a non-zero chance that any given person could have a more serious reaction. ... All that said, don't kill them, they're pollinators too; give them some meat (they like pork for some reason), and let them pollinate your indoor garden. Not a bad trade off.

the house that I grew up in had a problem with those things. My windows werent fitted tight....it was a prefab home from the 60's and nothing was upgraded. They would make their way into my house through the windows and would migrate to the corners of my bedroom in particular. :58 is not quite as bad as what my corners looked like, but there were huge groups like that and I got bit while I was just laying in bed. I guess its "misinformation" if you only read about them and never experience them.
@doloresgronenberg58826 ай бұрын
It's really misinformation because they're not really aggressive at all, like the video says they have that ability and more so if you go out of your way or you get into their space, and like he said if they get into your house seeking refuge they will consider that their space so there's a greater chance of them biting you, in my case that never has happened to me, I've seen some ladybugs though not many when I was at my school and I did try touching them and tried making them climb unto my hand, but they never bit me nor did I see them bite any of my classmates when they were trying the same thing, so I didn't even know until recently that they could actually bite
