As a British citizen, I can say with absolute confidence. The normal citizens of Britain haven't got the slightest clue, where the hatred comes from for Russia in our Ruling classes. We've never been taught at school of anything bad Russia is supposed to have done. We've not got a clue. I'm in my 50's & lived through the cold war & I've done a helluva lot of research about Russia & it's culture over the past 2 decades. I had several conversations with soldiers and citizens of Ukraine about the "Nazis" (Azov Battalion) and had it explained to me in helpful terms. In the 1930s, Stalin did his best to starve Ukraine to death: no reason whatever, he ordered the region stripped of all food, resulting in a famine that killed millions. In the current Ukrainian mind, the soldiers we think of as "Nazis" are the men that fought hardest against the Soviets in 1944, and in the latest invasion (2014), men of the same beliefs (that Soviets/Russians must be stopped at all costs) rushed to join the unit most famous for tenacity against Russians. I met Azov soldiers during my month-long visit. They are not anti-Semitic, they were not "Nazis" in the classic term (requires a belief of Aryan supremacy & racism against other ethnic groups) -- they represent the soldiers that devoted themselves to stopping Russians. The entire country of Ukraine sees them not as Jack-booted SS thugs, intent on subjegating other races -- to Ukraine, Azov is made up of Ukrainian patriots sacrificing themselves on the front lines to stop Russian aggression. They are heroes across Ukraine, not mindless "Nazi thugs" as depicted in the Russian media.

It does sorta make me wonder why Azov wont just get rid of some of their twisted cross insignia things they use, they make people think nazi insignia even tho Azov obviously isn't nazi. Azov needs to improve their marketing people and fix some of their PR issues.
