I couldn't agree more with the workaholic point...I myself am a workaholic but it's for different reasons than most. I was born into a piss poor family situation, I hated school the older I got, I dropped out at 17, got my GED, was lost for a few years then went into the military. Came out a man, went to a trade school and became a residential & commercial designer, after 5 years I went out on my own and started my own firm and that's when the grinding started. I'm 52, been doing this for 22 years, doing 70 hours per week EVERY week but both my wife and my vehicles are paid off, this year I pay off my $800,000 mortgage and I will be debt free this year totally.....now that I have accomplished what I set out to do over 20 years ago, I am going to finally slow down and enjoy life to the fullest, my diet is much better with starting keto a few years ago which now switched over to carnivore, I fast on a regular basis and I feel the best I have ever felt the last couple of years, I feel as good as I did in my 20's. I'm fortunate that I was able to achieve my goals and get to do what I've always wanted to do....slow down and smell the roses for my remaining years, more fishing...more golf! So in other words, I'm not an addicted workaholic.....my workaholic status was just for reaching my debt free goals....but many will still just keep working away like crazy and NEVER get to actually enjoy the fruits of their labor....seems like a waste of time if you never stop to smell the roses!

I changed my life when I realised I could not complete university due to family finances and made the decision to return to my country and not live like a 10th class citizen in a foreign country. I removed all societies social preasures that to get a head we must have a degree. I charted my life to live life to the fullest. I excelled at every job but in the same breath left them for my passion to travel the world. Am now 62 with my own business with not a regret of not doing what others thought I should do. So yes I agree 100% set your own values and goals that you can live with and makes you happy. Then and only then will the world be your playing field. Just don't let other tell you whats good for you just be tru to yourself.

I like what sadhguru says about sleep. We don't have to sleep exact amounts every time. We need to sleep as much as the body needs. We stress ourselves when we wake up too early by thinking we have not slept enough but he is right that some days we will sleep more depending on how much our body needs.

My insomnia started when as a very little girl I was sexually abused. During counseling as an adult, I told my story. My therapist honed in on the fact that on my daily walk to school I passed by the home of my abuser. This reminded me that on Sunday nights I would get anxiety and stayed awake all night. It has continued all of my life. Nothing I tried helped me to relax and sleep. Medication helped for a while, but I was sleepy all day and I had to stop because I needed to be awake for work. I am retired now yet I am still struggling with insomnia. Very few days I nap, but there is no routine. My husband falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. I wish I could sleep like my husband sleeps.

@@dianneevans5492 can you please elaborate on your "40+ years" studying health? Such as, what degrees you obtained in the field of medicine, etc. that led you to not having had "a cold or flu in 35 years" , please? Also, I wasn't trying to be a smartass. I legitimately, LEGITIMATELY, thought you were being sarcastic, in an attempt to mimic Sadhguru. With that being said, no harm was intended by my response to your comment. And as I'm sure you are aware, since you have been studying health for 40+ years; anger (or something of the sort) has a direct correlation with "bad health". Being that, anger is a stresser, which causes a rise in Cortisol and throws our HPA Axis out of whack.. Leading to many, many health problems, such as high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, as well as heart palpitations.. And that's just to name a few.. Life's too short, darling. After all, I only mistook your statement for a joke. No biggie. You, out of all people, (with the exception of Sadhguru lol 😂) should know this. Have an incredible Thursday, doll. 😘 Goodnight and Best Wishes to you & yours. 🥰

FYI, i have tried everything under the sun to sleep at night. I literally fight to sleep every night. I know what I'm doing wrong, nap in the afternoon, sedentary life from sofa to bed. Hardly any exercise. Melatonion gummies never worked, hard drugs addictive. Finally I zeroed in on Magnesium gycinate, which let me sleep a few hours. Also do a medical check up, it can be something more serious.

I love that you mention in your references to your experience with your patients that they are reporting to you how things are going in their life, which indicates that you actually have that type of conversations with them which would allow you to understand them better, that sounds Very different than the western method doctors that Never go that deep into getting to know the larger story about what is Really going on with them, instead they just want to know what your ailment is and where does it hurt so that they can simply prescribe a drug and get on to the next patients so that they can maximize their profits and they maybe overlooking some important details about them. It's refreshing to hear that you actually try and listen to the patients 👍

From my Buddhist perspective, the main dichotomy for this "perception and expression" would be the concept of action/reaction vs observation. As the pun goes, we've become "human doings" instead of human beings. :) Even when people aren't expressing themselves actively, what we see is that they're constantly scrolling, desperately looking for continual distractions and stimulation, and when they don't get it they experience mental restlessness and agitation (which is arguably their true mental quality). And when this habit is formed, the mind is conditioned to hold onto things, to react to things, to maintain a high level of activity, and it's difficult to stop the process when someone would wish to engage in something like sleep. They're floating through life in the state of being in their mind, many layers of abstractions deep in their complex mental processes, which disconnects them from experiencing reality; from experiencing how things really are. Being connected to reality can be achieved through observation only, and true observation can be defined as seeing instead of reacting. This is how meditation practice grounds us in the present moment: we start to develop the habit of observing instead of reacting, creating peace and calmness through decreasing the mental activity, and breaking the otherwise endless, often self-reinforcing loops of mental activity by bringing the mind back to observing the subject.

^_^ Yes, personal vehicles are too much in most cases. Downtime of 10 hours for the car/truck/etc. a week, might as well use public transportation. I would add all the traffic, pollution, extra money spent, how drivers are like 90% more stressed than pedestrians in studies, all that plastic for tires and such, many horrible drivers, accidents, deaths, all these ugly parking lots instead of gardens and nice walkways, people fighting over parking spots, automobile theft (especially catalysts stolen to sell for meth, fentanyl, etc.), lack of exercise, lack of productivity while commuting, etc. It's far safer to travel in the sky with some bad winds than to be on the ground with too many humans, statistically proven. Lol.

:D Plus, as I also meant to mention, Elon Musk has brought up good studies on how most vehicles are parked for 90-95% of a 24-hour period. People pay for a vehicle that's mostly not used. Lol. Human-driven vehicles are far mode problematic than railed public transport, and AI-driven vehicles.

Dear Doctor, your compassion in s ruching. I am 72yr.old well educated, spiritual and healthy after experiencing all struggles. In our time relationships do NOT work> making us more sick than anything else. We want to escape life, this is way we desperately need sleap . Answer is to create relationship with your self. Accept your body, mind ( level of consciousness) and spirit as part of Universe. Experience 5 sences but they are not life. Your soul has temporally experience in this body on the Earth. Way to have stress about that? Awareness of letting go and forgiving anything = PEACE 🕊️ 🕊️

When enlightenment was clear to him again, at age 25 or so, not sure of the exact age, he began to be aware of much more ... I can't explain what it was like for him, but I picked up tidbits over time. So, part of this is that when he closes his eyes thought doesn't happen. When hooked up to brain scans in Germany they said according to thier instrumentation he was dead. He had closed his eyes. So, how can a being who doesn't think when they close thier eyes, and I'm not saying he has no thoughts ever, I have no clue, but how can such a being have so much knowledge? He tapped into a higher dimension when enlightenment revealed again. All the masters of the past are in this consciousness field. He is tapping into this field of knowledge and transmitting. Is that correct? Something along those lines is happening, from what I've been able to ascertain. Am I right or wrong in my tidbits? I don't know. But, I sat at his feet in 2004 in a room of about 100 people, hour after hour and we asked any question we could think of. And I knew, I recognized that which you say. I had sought and sought and this being flabbergasted me with is deep, deep wisdom and clarity on any myriad of ponderings that anyone had. In that space was consecration, of the space, and his energy created waves in our bodies, many of us wept five minutes before he came out. We found out later he had entered the building, in the back, when we felt the waves. It swept across us as we sat on the floor, quiet and patiently waiting. The power in this 'man', is palpable. I'll leave it at that.

I’m almost 68 and have been a professional musician most of my life and sleep was also for me on an average 2-4 hours of sleep. I still feel good and very active in my lifestyle. I eat once a day and basically take my rest moments but for me the mental rest plays a much more vital part of my life. A very nice interview.

I think the information about sleep hygiene as well as the use of sleep hygiene is valuable for us to fall asleep and stay asleep. Sleep is important because it helps us regulate the way we think as well as the way we experience various emotions such as but not limited to depression anxiety stress fear worry doubt insecurity and so many other positive and negative emotions. So I'm led to believe that sleep is vital if we do not want to experience stress or any of the troublesome emotions. Get on a schedule for sleep and be consistent with it that's what little I know.

I love Sadghuru 🙏 his words are the words of the universe! 🤗 However, if I don't sleep enough, just 1-2-3 hours, then I can't function mentally or physically that day! I can't work, I can't clean, I can't help my wife, children, I can't be creative, I'm like a zombie all day! Listless, melaholic! I have not been diagnosed with insomnia, but I think in my case it is part time insomnia! Two or three days of extremely poor sleep, then two or three days of solid sleep (4-5 hours of good sleep), which is enough! Then I'm ready to work, talk, listen to music, everything!😀

Perhaps many people are afraid -- of bad dreams, of stoppingg thinking/obsessing, and to know their deeper selves. They are afraid to let go, even though deep and physical healing necessarily takes place.

Yeah it takes a lot of trust to change. You have to let go of things to allow the new in. Some of the ideas we have been raised with is to fear change, the key is to trust and make space for better ways of being and entering your life.

The food we eat really does affect us. The frequency in which we consume foods also affects us. It takes energy to digest and what do we expect when we never give that system a break… I have done several (Dr. Approved) fasts, one in which was t technically a fast but a ten day liquid monodiet. One gentle enough to let the digestive system rest but still provide sustenance. After the initial withdrawal symptoms the first few days, so many improvements in my physical, emotional, and spiritual body were noticed. Not only did all of my general inflammation subside, but my hair, skin, nails improved. My energy levels shot up to those of a young child, just abundant and free flowing all day. The soreness and aches and pains in my body vanished despite my increased physical activity. My mental clarity sharpened as if there was an invisible fog I had been living in, completely unaware. Another thing, my sleep improved. It came easier, felt deeper and more restful, and I noticed towards the end of the cleanse that it lessened. I had previously needed somewhere between 8-10 hours and suddenly my body only required 6 and I was up and rearing to go. The Master Cleanse is what I followed and I have had many friends and family ask me about it over the years because the changes in me are visible. I recommend anyone curious to read the entire book by Tom Wooshlyn cover to cover. Consult your physician if planning to try it but already on some sort of medication. I am sure there are other similar auredvedic (sp) cleanses as well.

^_^ Plus, as I also meant to mention, Elon Musk has brought up good studies on how most vehicles are parked for 90-95% of a 24-hour period. People pay for a vehicle that's mostly not used. Lol. Human-driven vehicles are far mode problematic than railed public transport, and AI-driven vehicles.
