I honestly believe that MOST people have no sense of country, no true sense of patriotism. What drives their decision-making is the prices at the pump, at the checkout, and their rent/mortgage, children's student loans or parents nursing home fees. So they're upset with the people in charge when things go up in cost, ignoring what the person they'll turn to will do to the country. Blindly hoping that somehow despite all the evidence to the contrary, that he'll do the right thing and make their daily lives better. Here's how uninformed Americans are: When asked if they like the features of the affordable care act...no coverage exclusions for pre-existing conditions, chronic medical conditions, end of life situations, extending insurance coverage for children on parents policy until age 26, making preventative care and maintenance visits for conditions like diabetes or asthma etc covered @100% etc...etc...etc, they all said they love it, they want all those things and would tell their congressional reps to support these measures. When asked if they liked and wanted Obamacare, they said heck no. So basically, facts did not matter...but sound byte message DID.

I've been paying attention for about 10 years, and those like me saw: The FBI started an investigation based on false information as soon as he stepped off the escalator. No one was held to account for this outside of a slap on the wrist fine to the DNC and the Clinton campaign. Everything else, when given enough scrutiny, shows a large coordinated issue to drag down a guy who's not a representative of larger interests in DC.

"Don't say gay" wasn't the intent of the law in Florida, it was a term the media used that term to dredge up negative sentiment. In one of those, I mentioned that _"you're preaching to the choir, but the people in the pews have their fingers in their ears and are mumbling 'I'm not listening to you' ad nauseam."_ and honestly, that's the real problem with this video (and many others like it), not your information, logic, reasoning, frustration, or justifiable anger. For what it's worth, I'm sorry and I hate that you're only starting your political life in _this_ situation! There are many people, who are much older than you, who honestly thought that this country was actually moving in the correct direction, even if it was slower movement than we would have liked. For completely unrelated reasons, I'd already become really jaded over the last couple of years, but I think this election -more so than any others that I've experienced- has caused, and will continue to cause, "our side" to do a s-load of self-reflection. Other than conversations like this and voting, I've largely avoided politics. (I had a really bad experience as a youth and knew that my mental health would never survive in our political system.) However, I've also been around long enough to have seen some "long games" play out, and I've always wondered why our left (which is actually not even considered "left" in the rest of the world) hasn't ever had any apparent "long game". *I honestly believe the leftists in this country need to band together and **_actually play the long game._* If you don't know what I'm talking about, I strongly encourage you to: - listen to "Exclusive: Lee Atwater's Infamous 1981 Interview on the Southern Strategy" on the KZbin channel "The Nation" (be warned, it will likely make your blood boil) - read the article "How the Supreme Court's conservative majority happened, from Bush to Trump" on npr dot org's website - learn about the "Southern Strategy", the "Federalist Society", and the "The Heritage Foundation", i.e. the creators of "Project 2024" *I.e. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the issues, and share your frustration with the result, but I do believe (and it's also a cause for some hope and positivity) that many, many people are in such a context that the reasons they see things the way they do and make the choices that they make is not always so simplistic as that they are bigoted, sexist, racist, or even uneducated, ignorant, etc., etc. One simple thing to say is that the USA provides far too little choice, with what amounts to a two-party binary choice, and also in that the choice is actually within quite a narrow range, and provides little to challenge and facilitate enough reality and nuance onto the policies of either 'side' in that competition, and thus even someone who is pretty clued up cannot be sure of the positivity of voting for either side (the Democrats are clearly not saints, also mainly representing the business class, though less egregiously than the Republicans, who all the same do a better job of pretending they represent the working classes; also representing a geopolitical status quo that has long been very questionable). Another thing to say is that people are embedded in their lives, not paid as journalists and politicians are, to make sense of all the factors involved in a political choice. Nor either are many of them at school any more, or students, or whatever. Some people do two jobs to barely survive, and keep their kids fed, especially in recent years, where in the USA actual ground level economics has not been great (GDP is a different thing). Many lives are hard and people's view of the world from those viewpoints is what it can only be. A few political pundits have admitted recently that their mistake in predicting a Trump loss was in their not appreciating how the normal lives of most people simply do not allow them to have the view of politics that those privileged people have, and also that they have urgent concerns in terms of basic survival that they cannot just pass over. Not that I'm not saying that bigots, etc., did not play a role here. But that's not everyone. Many, many, are ordinary people in limited circumstances making choices on the basis of what they have the time and opportunity to make sense of, which may be imcomplete, but inevitably so, not making them bad people.

i agree that the system shouldn’t only have the main two candidates and generally i don’t think it would have been AS big of a deal if someone voted republican, but the truth of the matter is that it’s trump. it’s not specifically that they voted republican, it’s that they voted TRUMP. i think you can kind of tell (?) that i originally filmed this video for family members and then changed it to be for a bigger audience but in all honesty i think this specific election is a little more straightforward 🤷♀️ it was either you vote to take the rights of women and the protection of queer people away or you vote for a rapist and convicted felon to be in office

And, again, most negatives about him they probably just don't know, haven't even heard about, or at best just don't believe what they're told, and not always without reason for that distrust. I more and more sense that proper, honest, full, nuanced, open, no-bullshit, and totally without commericial aims, discussion, media, etc., is the only way. Not a quick fix, but maybe the only substantial one. And also what's needed is the social circumstances that allow people to engage and give them the ground on which to stand in order to be able to understand. Several decades ago, I had a roommate who would go protest at the local abortion clinic with her boyfriend almost every weekend. Then she got pregnant. He drove her to an abortion clinic several hours away, just so that they wouldn't run into any protestors who might know them. I wish I were joking, but no, the very next weekend, they were back at the local clinic protesting! Needless to say, we had multiple conversations about the matter, but it always boiled down to, "our circumstances were unique, so we're the exception", "we had a good reason, but they don't". There was no real reasoning or logic to their arguments. _The absolute worst part about that, is that she was in law school!_

You may also find my analysis helpful on election loss, I focus on the environment as my starting point, but my analysis will diverge from yours, you may find my show on Proj 2025 especially helpful. I would post links but youtube often blocks me. Proj 2025 is a few shows back and the Harris loss video went up last week. While you will disagree with the last point I make in my Harris loss vid, and based on some of your comments may not want to associate with me, I believe that my take is important if u care about basic issues championed by old school Left then my ability to bridge build with conservatives is critical to the long term survival of our species. Further I have plenty of contact with Gen Z.

i actually really appreciate this comment, thank you! i’m honestly not sure what would change my mind tbh. i don’t think i could EVER support trump unless he did a COMPLETE 180 but i think it is possible for me to support a different republican if they aligned with what i believe in (obviously that’s what politics is lol). i didn’t address it in this video but i actually don’t support ALL of what kamala wanted to do. i think her views on what’s happening in palestine is atrocious but at the same time, i would very much rather be arguing with someone willing to hear my side than someone looking away from me with deaf ears.

I would trust a woman with Economics degree over man who will sue if his business college releases his grades. Must not be that stable genius he claims to be. He has become more unhinged this year He claims "I had no bankruptcies." Um.. We saw the result of his China tariffs' bankrupting small farmers. China started buying soybeans from Brazil and other countries in retaliation to US not importing their goods. I do not have to be an economics major to know his National Sales tax will not work to cover income lost due to tariffs. Companies are already "front loading" ahead of his proposed tariffs, not giving Christmas bonus, and one laid off 1,000 employees.

"I highly recommend you read economics in one lesson." That's hysterical: Neoliberal capitalism is simultaneously disrupting the climate, destroying the web of life, destroying and hijacking democracies, and you think we should "learn" some of the most destructive ideas the world has ever known???!!!! I'm a university professor and researcher who has studied this for more than a decade, and unless we replace industrialized capitalism with a caring economy that prioritizes the well-being of all people and species, we're toast (that's a technical term). In every possible way, Trump takes us in the oppostite direction of what is needed to heal ecosystems and societies.

Religion has nothing to do with my reasoning being against abortion. If you would like to understand the position rather than misrepresenting it I would be happy to help. It has nothing to do with controlling women and everything to do with the scientific fact that abortion is a process which results in ending a life of another living human being. Once you understand that is the basis of the argument I would imaging you maybe could have some legitimate arguments to make
@lindsaypaige462811 күн бұрын
Ps my anti abortion stance had very little to do with my vote bc trump does not support a nation wide abortion ban.
@starstrucx11 күн бұрын
i actually would love to hear about it even though i don’t agree! i do though think that the anti-abortion thing is more than just abortion though. but i do want to tell you that it’s generally not ending the life of another human being unless the mother is in danger. generally speaking, people usually perform abortions before the baby has a heart beat, therefore it’s still a fetus and not quite a baby. there’s talk of those having an abortion after that time, generally around the six-month mark and later and those are actually really important. usually, around the six-month mark is when you go in for an anatomy scan to find if something is wrong with the baby and if they will actually be birthed healthily. at that point the mother is probably expecting to carry their child to full term and this could change it. if there’s something with their baby, say a part of the skull is missing, the baby will be a stillborn and it will put the mother at risk so they need to do an emergency abortion. the problem is that they CANT do that due to the ban on abortions and the mother could die. yes, this is based on a true story. luckily, the mother did survive after an emergency c-section after traveling two states away but the child died 2 minutes after being birthed, as expected. this is why it’s SO important to not ban abortion. it’s more than just the ending of another human’s life.
@starstrucx11 күн бұрын
he’s actually been fluctuating what he’s been saying so truthfully i don’t know whether he wants a nationwide abortion ban or not. what i do know is that he’s stated multiple times how he’s very proud to be the one to overturn roe v wade and that he does want to make it harder to get abortions
@lindsaypaige462811 күн бұрын
@@starstrucx what is the difference between a fetus and a baby? You seem to think there is an arbitrary amount of time that passes that magically turns a fetus into a baby when in reality zygote -> embryo -> fetus -> newborn are actually stages of development rather than different things. Whether you decide to call the baby a fetus or not it doesn’t change the bottom line they are a LIVING HUMAN BEING.

It isn't--I've been teaching teachers for 40 years, and you have been lied to by right-wing media. re: your religious argument - You state that Kamala has "used bible quotes in her speeches". I'm agnostic and while I would prefer presidents that don't even allude to religion, I understand that religion is very important to many Americans. However, even if I were religious, I wouldn't really care about what they _said_ about religion, I would care about whether they practiced what they claimed, i.e. actions speak louder than words. I'm confident that you and I would agree that, in comparison to Kamala's actions, Trump's actions overall are many orders of magnitude further away from what any actual religious texts purport to extol (except maybe the Satanic bible). Which should really make us wonder why religious people are so drawn to him! While I can understand anti-abortionists being drawn to him, until very recently, I was honestly perplexed about why any religious person, who supported a woman's right to choice, would be drawn to him. A few days ago, I saw a rather old KZbin video that addressed the irrationality of such voters much better than any other explanation that I've heard. *I strongly encourage you to go watch "Let Me Explain Why Trump’s Core White Supporters Won't EVER Turn Against Him" by Frank Schaeffer, here on KZbin!*
