What I never got about that fable was why people listened to the kid. If only wise people could see the clothes, of course some random kid wouldn't see them. So when the little boy called it out, everyone who was already pretending to see the clothes would just call the kid a fool. The king's actions don't make any sense at all either. For one, he should have worn some undergarments, and two, he should have expected that at least some of the peasants wouldn't see the clothes, especially when he couldn't see them himself. Either way, you're right about this.

You can't take what was said two and a half years ago that she had lost her voice when she's been working with a doctor to manage her stiff person's syndrome and working vocally with a coach for over 2 years now. Thanks for this other video... I don't understand why truth it's so difficult to digest. I saw your previous video and it's absolutely clear. Plus, it's a rule of Olympic games events since many years to pre record their songs and perform on lipsync for precautional reasons in case of last minute technical issues or weather conditions. Even in 1996 she was on lipsync and it was fine. Lady Gaga hates lipsync and always wants to sing live for her fans, but she was on lipsync. Rules are rules. I'm a big fan of Lara Fabián, and she was singing at the opening of Asian Games in 2011 and she was on lipsync . And I know and it was fine, I do understand rules and I wasn't so indigned and start attacking who says the truth. But it looks like all CD fan became suddenly expert... Without knowing a thing about music and voice recording. When i first watch the video, as a musician it came to me suddenly that it was on lipsync. The sound too perfect, no frecuency difference when she moves her mic, rain, no monitor,. No sound check before.. Everything sounded too perfect.. I did post my comment telling that, and I have been immediately attacked from bunch of people telling me I'm a liar, I'm spreading fake news and that I don't understand a thing about music. Then more people came out , like this KZbinr telling the truth , mostly of CD fans disappeared and some still keep telling this is a lie... I don't understand why it's so difficult to digest.. And I would suggest to many people here.. Instead of immediately attacking people, think twice. Nobody is mocking CD, nobody is denigrating her... I guess if they did the same when she was on lipsync in 1996. I will share this video on my channel and hope to get comments from people that has been attacking me.

Celine is probably one of the best singers of all time and this was a perfect performance, but I totally agree that this was not completely live. She was probably singing, but what she was singing was not what we were hearing live. I'm sure if we were standing right next to her up on the Eiffel Tower, it would have been wonderful. But from afar, The accoustics from the orchestra, piano and voice...perfection... but obviously not live or realistic in an open air venu that high up and with that much open space between the singer and crowds below. It's not some secret info that was sent to PHIL. She shows the complete video and Celine is obviously using the backing track as something to match her singing too. She doesn't hit all the notes, but she certainly gets better as the rehearsal progresses and she sings more full out. So PHIL shows you only two seconds of it for what reason? Back to the algorithm L I N E S. Dude is such a yawn. He knows exactly what he's doing catering to OLD followers by confirming to them that music was better back in their days. He peddles nostalgia. His is one of the more boring reaction channels. One trick only. Lots of 45 year old white dudes have a lot of guitars in their basement. PHIL makes his living off his KZbin videos. I have SPS. I used to be a vocalist. I was shocked when Celine Dion was performing at the opening ceremonies. That she was standing there, moving, was unbelievable. I know first hand what this horrible disease does to the body. I wondered what the heck she was “juiced up” with to even be there, and figured she wouldn’t be moving for a week…..the spasms would be bad after that. This makes so much more sense. Thank you for shedding light on the situation. I hope she had a blast. I’ll be really surprised if she could ever perform live again.

Agreed entirely. I think she chose to do whatever it took to be there and do that performance. I’m sure she had a lot of drugs in her system simply to be able to move like that. Given what we all saw in her recent documentary, there is simply no way she would be able to sing with that perfection under ANY circumstances, let alone under THOSE circumstances: in the rain, at night, in the open, under all that pressure. It was already enough of a miracle that she was THERE and MOVING. This was important for HER. She NEEDED to do that performance, and she needed it to be amazing. And it was. What is happening to her is a tragedy. I hope this moment is one that gives her joy, not pain, when she reflects on in it later in her life. She deserves joy.

That’s the thing… I’m getting the best treatment for SPS. Over $500k a year, every year worth of treatments. The only thing that might be better is a stem cell transplant-which you can’t get in the USA. And I’ve known people who died from complications of that. I’ve had SPS for 19 years. It’s a spectrum disease, and I’m on the less severe end of the spectrum. From what I ‘ve heard of the severity of her disease, I cannot imagine hoe Celine STOOD for that long. Maybe she was propped up.

Fil, I’m a vocal coach with over 20 years of experience. You are correct - dead on the money. I see the negativity as a result of our society over subscribing to talk shows, podcasts, & reality tv where the listeners’ opinion matters over the opinion of experts in their field. They “pick” the winner! Objectivity & musical expertise is out the window - anyone who “believes” what they are saying mistakes their opinion for fact. The casual listener eating dinner while watching the show somehow thinks they are experts. So does grandma. You know where I’m going here…. I could talk all day about enthusiastic families firing me and/or belittling me after I’ve told them the student’s talent is lacking at that point in time. I Did exactly what I was hired to do. So do you! “Special ears” are a rare talent, even within the music world. It’s a similar argument about vocal health & whether to push an ailing performer to sing or allow them some assistance. To not have a backing track for Celine would be the cruelest & most unprofessional approach taken. Don’t let the rude comments bother you. It’s a level of expertise most will never understand, as I will never understand astro physics 😂Thank you for sharing your extensive talent and keep it up!!!!

@@ruthlafler5622 He did. He also said it would have been nice to hear her real vocals if possible, as people would have understood with the battles she’s had with her health. Again, people only seem to get the hump when it’s an artist they like. He’s done many before her and he’ll do many afterwards. If a performance of that magnitude is being touted to us as live, then they should also be prepared for it to be analysed and not just taken as it’s fact. If she did do it live and it wasn’t the best, in years to come the original would have been taken down and blocked anyway, and we’ll just get a pitch corrected version anyway, as that’s what they seem to be doing with everything else. I’ve watched the whole of both and I won’t be losing sleep over them. They entertained me for forty five minutes, give or take and have no effect on my life at all. If it was an artist I liked, I wouldn’t give a crap either, I’d find it just as entertaining, then I’d get on with whatever else I was doing with my day.

I think Celine's biggest struggle, is coming to terms with her disability. In her movie, she stated many times that her desperation for a come back, is not for herself, but for her fans. I do not believe this is true. You can tell that she is desperate, and that was heartbreaking to watch. Her stating that she "just couldn't lie to her fans anymore" when she struggled on stage in Las Vegas, was not true either if your video is correct, which I do believe. As I watched a video of her performance in France, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that her song had been prerecorded. All things concidered, I'm sure many would understand, but, like you, don't lie to me. My disappointment wasn't the recording; it was the lie. Your video was well done!

Having just watched the the documentary only a few days before of ‘I Am Céline Dion’ and thought that This appearance was extremely ambitious feat now understanding what SPS is and the effect it has on Céline’s vocal ability ~ I almost held my breath throughout this entire performance and praying nothing Would go wrong. In hindsight of course you were totally spot on as always. As you correctly pointed out electricity and water do not make the best bed fellows! So, it’s more than obvious This had to be done regardless to a prerecorded vocal. I’m still annoyed however about the fact that someone in Their wisdom thought it would be a good idea to use Pitch Correction Software on her fabulous voice which was The crime that was committed for this ‘Performance’ I do not believe that she needed it in my opinion. Have you heard Fil's live vocals without reverb and protools? Worse than your neighbour's tween screeching in the garage. Painfully bad. Dude can't sing at all. Watch America's Got Talent when he walks shirtless through the audience making a fool of himself. The Honest Vocalist posted and analyzed this same phone rehearsal audio/video of Celine TWO days ago. Who cares whether she sang live or not. It's a miracle for her to even be able to do anything with her illness. She's struggled for years not knowing what was happening and when she did she worked her ass off to be where she is today. Some people with Stiff Person Syndrome are bedridden, or in a wheelchair and have even died. You can't compare a performance from years ago to today? Not really dreamers, just people with thin skin. A lot of mainstream audience (especially younger generations) don't have any real critical thinking skills, they grew up in a culture where if you say anything that even remotely hurts people's feelings for whatever reason even if it's entirely truthful and non-malicious, they take it as hostility and negativity. It's just a cultural thing nowadays and among the intelligent crowds we call that "stupidity", but it's not an insignificant number of people. What most people are doing nowadays is to predicate any and all criticism (even if it's part of the mere stating of facts) with something on the contrary to "compensate" - for example, here a more "PC" way to state the fact about Celine not singing live would be to first state how glorious Celine is and how wonderful a human being she is and how not singing live is completely normal and how we don't know for sure and how it's all a big speculation, THEN and only then you can state the fact, and not get a huge backlash. In a way, that kind of standard behavior is basically indulging the stupid thin skin culture to get even thinner skins, and get offended even more easily. But there you have it, it's just how it is now.

I 100% believed what you said without even hearing the two tracks. I think that it’s enough that Celine even appeared at the Olympics. If anyone has seen her documentary video, you’ll know that she suffers so much with her disease. The fact that she hit a good patch and was able to pull herself together enough to go on stage is truly amazing and that should be enough for us to see her again. I don’t have a problem with her lip syncing to her own previously recorded track. I’ve heard her sing in her documentary and her voice is so different now she could never do that song on stage live and sound like that. Celine has such a tremendous ego, and I’m pretty sure that’s what drove her to this performance and the deception surrounding it. Thanks for the video!😊💛

It absolutely is about ego. “Identity” as a superstar is 100% about ego. I got the impression after watching the documentary and also years of her in interviews, she is always performing and gets so much fuel from performing, the adoration of fans and most importantly, being the main focus. She’s spent her entire life being adored, admired and being propped up at the most talented person in the room…. even the world. To suddenly take all that adoration and goddess-like persona away, so abruptly, will of course throw a narcissist into shock and mourning. I do feel sympathy for her pain and suffering, but I think it’s also acceptable to say she is not handling the “world moving on without her”.

I’m a singer and I've noticed, with age two things: I can't always hit the note and I can't hear the note. My hearing is not what it used to be. I was tested at University of Michigan and declared to have perfect pitch...then. I no longer enjoy perfect-pitch. I watch Fil’s videos and learn that seemingly perfect vocals are enhanced. As a singer this is a slap in the face.

Ann Wilson has aged with dignity. She has moments of sheer brilliance but also segments of the reality of a brilliant artist who is 76. I saw her a few months ago from 5 feet directly in front of her and was able to chat between songs. She was just as magical and the legit spots where needed she rose to the occasion and she backed off elsewhere to save up for those chosen spots. Celine could have backed it down to a couple moments she could have similarly reached and it would have been 100 times more meaningful. Now, she is a sad thing, a liar of convenience who has insulted every fan who cares about how great she once was. Even with severe limitations, a scaled down but REAL version would have moved her fans way more than this mechanical monstrosity which is the last live image I will ever have of her. Sad.

@JustPlainFolks I have a tremendous amount of respect for Ann for reasons that you have mentioned, and have always been a big fan of hers. Although I have not necessarily been a big fan of Celine, I certainly acknowledge what a great vocalist she was. There's a difference between lip-syncing on old television shows that either didn't have the space, or were not equipped for someone's soundboard and musical equipment and someone performing live in front of a massive crowd. Either way, lip syncing is a lie, but in this case, when fans were eagerly awaiting to see how this legend would perform, it seems like an even bigger lie. I would have much rather have seen her perform it live, flaws and all, even if her vocals had to be toned down to what they were capable of reproducing. I would have respected that greatly!
