If your DIY CNC is missing steps. Is it grounded properly?

When building my first CNC machine I made sure I used shielded wire for the wiring and grounded each stepper motor. If these 2 things aren’t right with any CNC it will miss steps with the interference that will be present. This video is discussing these issues.
This most likely will not be a problem with a manufacturer built CNC as they would know this.

@@Studtguitars Yes it is all about material changes, not tool changes. If you have to make many, then it is much better to make an automatic system to load and unload the material from the machine.

and you can also bypass the tool changes, which are expensive and time consuming in most cases.

Sure if I can help I will. There are other things that can cause that like trying to run it to fast is probably the most common especially since you say all of the sudden

I have exactly the same problem with my Z axis. I'm using UCCNC on my Stepcraft D840

I just saw I never responded to this. I hope you figured it out by now. My thought is that it wasn’t homed correctly
