My dog, Nitro wasn’t enjoying his dog food plain. So I came across a subreddit that mentioned to try to pretend that I was getting his food on the refrigerator. And it works like a charm! #shihtzu #puppers

Best trick I've ever learned as a vet tech in 10 years. Coconut oil one tablespoon per cup of dry food. It's good for their overall health hair and skin. It also helps with wet dog smell or oily dog smell. (I have red and blue tick coonhounds and I know for a fact they are the stinkiest dogs ever... Coconut oil saves our noses!) Hope this helps our picky eaters.😉 For cats it helps with hair balls and it's good for their overall coats. Start at 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of coconut oil during meals. Sometimes it works too well on house cats. 😬 Watch their weight gains carefully. (Edit: Thank you for the likes. I hope this helps many people and their ani-babies.)

Does this include every species? We have an extremely picky eater, I think the race is called a bison francé or something like that, Can't remember how to spell it, but he would sometimes not even eat the treats, or foods we would usually give him off the table too. Things like the meat we would eat, chicken beef etc. Only way he would eat, is if my mom sits down, and then he would eat a little, then go play a little, come back to eat a little more and then go play again, repeat it.

One of my dogs, Marco, sometimes didn't eat his dry food. The other dog had some teeth problems, so we started feeding her the dry food mixed with warm water. Marco seemed like he wanted her food so we mixed his with warm water as well. Lo and behold he loved it and is excited EVERY time he gets fed.

This happens a lot with older dogs. Their gums become sensitive or get tooth aches, so soft food helps with this pain.

Bad habit. The soft food tends to get stuck more to their gums and teeth, which causes bad breath and gum disease. The hard food is meant to help clean their teeth. You can always switch up their dog food to find one that they each enjoy, or be sure to give them some of the dental treats to help clean their teeth after their meals.

I had a wonderful doggo, Rosco P. Coltrane !! He h ad a very sensitive stomach from chemo therapy he endure as z youngster . I would cook for Roscoe everyday! Loved him Me and his dad broke up. Joseph Le bard I don’t think that’s a good idea most humans don’t even eat good food so this is too vague to be telling people. I use blue dog food and add bits of chicken, a veggie, hard boiled egg sometimes. I mix in a lot of different stuff so if they don’t like it they still eat dog food, but if they love it it’s all gone. Everything is trial and error especially with my little turd bird.

I assure you, in the vet clinic we get questions of food all the damn time. Here's what I've learned from all the most amazing vets I've had the pleasure of working with: Not all dog food is created equal. Not all dogs do well on certain foods. Some dogs have what we would consider 'crap' or 'cheap' food, and do just fine and live to a ripe old age. Some need special doets or restricted diets. Bone meal, innards, meat by product, etc, are NOT bad for your dog. Too much corn meal or filler, yeah, not ideal. Always measure out food at specific feeding times. Make sure you find out your pets target weight/ideal weight and feed them the daily calories required for that weight. If they seem hungry still, you can bulk up their food by adding certain raw or cooked veggies- adding bulk without calories. Do NOT let your pet charm you into overfeeding them. Don't let them get overweight. Weight is the one aspect we have the MOST control over in terms of maintaining their health. 80% are overweight. Most dogs do not have strictly food allergies, though yes, it is hard to tell. If they are solely allergic to a food, chances are it's the protein source. Holistic is a scam, it has no regulations, and doesn't have a defined meaning in the label. It can technically be added to any food to make it sound better, as there is no legal restriction or definition for commercial pet products. The food should be decided based on age, type of dog, caloric needs, medical needs/restrictions, and what they will eat. There is no one 'best' food or singularly 'right' diet that is universal for all dogs or all cats.

@@lilyjones4289 Cooked = home made human food..like boiled chicken (without the bones..!!) , turkey, lam, fish (without the bones..except from sardines)..with some vegetables..(5%) like broccoli, peas, green beans, carots..and if it is a big dog..(for saving some money)..mix it with some rice or pasta.. Give bone broth every day (full of nutrients) and some small pieces of fruit..like banana and apple..and a juicy raw bone (once a week) for calcium..!! and some yogurt..as a snack..every day for his probiotics..!! Your dog will florish..and eat it all with great pleasure.. Or BARF = Bones and Raw Food, or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. You can find it frozen in any petshop..!! even healthier than cooked food..!! If you really love your dog.. Never ever give him dry food..(=kibble) That is not food..!!!! dogs and cats are not designed by nature to eat that chemical stuff made by man..!! 90% of dogs fed with dry food..get cancer..!! :( Hope this helped.....
