I have one of the newer models from 2022 June and have noticed artifacting on certain games (mostly all of them like Mafia 2 biggest example) are PS4 ported or definitive /revamped games. I have never had this specific issue on actual AAA PS4 or PS5 titles. So I think also this could be due to the actual games in question and the backwards compatibility etc, basically an array of issues not specific to the PS5 itself but rather the compatibility of some games and the GPU. You see it a lot with newer high end PCS where for example my PC is a high end gaming PC that runs Cities Skylines 2, yet stick in Theme Hospital and it doesn't work to the point the PC loses the concept of reality itself lol. I have noticed my PS5 will run GPU/CPU extensive titles perfectly fine as far as I can tell yet suffers on some (not all) of the backwards compatible or remasters. I panicked when Mafia 2 Definitive Edition had obvious graphical issues alongside hard game crashing (the artifacts were noticeable) above the steam coming from the sewers, white light flashing above certain bright snow/dark backgrounds etc. yet Ghost recon Breakpoint and any other game no issues, not even a single hard crash. I don't think it is everyone's GPU and in most instances the games just runs like trash on the PS5 and the devs will never fix it. Not a biggy when the games a free subscription title, but it's a big deal if someone has paid for the game and it's priced around the £50 mark. Obviously now I will be paranoid to see if any of my other games start doing this, if they do new PS5 it is as I have 3 year warranty.

The difference is that its easily fixable on PC because 99% if the time its an outdated driver. You just cant access any of the ps5’s software. Im a pc gamer and bought the ps5 slim at launch, the fact that my slim is already doing this just reaffirms my previous bias that consoles are just utter shit. I have to send it back to sony

I really think you dropped the ball on this video. I’m in the game console repair business and have seen exactly 1 suspected GPU failure. The first few minutes of the video and the advice about using remote play to diagnose GPU issues are good. When you start getting into trying different cables/ ports on the tv though you are completely ignoring the 800LB gorilla in the room and that is the very common issue of the port on the console having faulty solder joints even if the port is fine which is also prone to breaking. Hopefully you’ll address that in a follow up video

@@tool46296 my launch ps4 still works fine. Videos like this make problems seem a lot more common than they actually are. I'd be interested to see how many units out of a million this actually happens to. There's also a lot of variables. Forcing the console in a tight area could cause issues with the port. Putting the console in a tight space could also cause heating issues as time goes on especially if it's not kept clean. Some instances are more than likely a manufacturer problem but I feel like a good portion are probably people who don't take care of their stuff.

First edition isn't actually the first. There always were plenty of pre-release editions tested before the final release. A small percentage of defect units exists in every new stock, but with nowadays factory technologies it's really small.

You won't disturb the Liquid Metal when taking off the Shell and removing the fan connectors. The Liquid Metal issue stems from the 2 small batches that came from the China Manufacturing Warehouse that Sony Japan used to help increase global production. The Liquid Metal gasket seals were poor quality and cracked easily, on top of that They had poor packaging, which resulted in bad shipping & handling making it worse causing leaks eventually The other is from user mishandling like standing the console upright and knocking it over, cracking the gasket seal. So the chance one of those is yours is 0.000001% or you cracking the gasket is 0.0001%.

I’ve had a faulty ps5 from the start. Sometimes when i turn it on, it turns on but turns off quickly. I usually turn it back on again and it works fine. This also explains why my screen was flickering back when Elden ring came out. I thought it was my monitor.

Just had this happen to my launch version of PS5. Did all the safe mode factory restarts and the issue still persisted. Ended up contacting PlayStation and telling them I had a GPU issue. They told me it was out of warranty but I could pay $220 plus shipping to send it in for repair. They said to expect an email within 24 hours which I have yet to receive 48 hours later… just purchased a new digital only version and have no issues. Not sure if I want to call PlayStation again and deal with their shit just to be able to pay $250 to get it repaired.

So, if you change the HDMI cable and use a different HDMI port (which, by the way changing two things at once is terrible troubleshooting but I digress), it points to the HDMI port on the PS5 being bad? What about the cable being bad? What about the port on the TV being bad? A better test is to replace the HDMI cable into the SAME port on the TV, and if that doesn't fix it then move the new cable to a known good port. If the issue is still there then you could maybe blame the PS5 port.

Funny thing is someone mentioned years ago to use Blue Jeans cables for a lot of audio and video output which includes displayports, VGA, and HDMI cables. And while they are expensive, they are really top notch quality. And even if the cable has dust on it and after wiping it off, it still works like a charm after 5 years, and is 4K 48gbps at 15 feet, ready to go.

I have a launch console, and I've never had static lines or any graphical issues. However, the PS5 will just randomly crash on start-up. Sometimes a few seconds after going to home. I've used two different TV's, and both times it would do the same thing, albeit not as much on my much newer TV. I've reset the PS5 twice fully, but never did a Default Settings reset so I may try that. Oddly enough, my PS5 has a strange issue, or it did, where PS4 games would just crash the system. I haven't played any PS4 games on it recently, but it did it a lot when I first tried.

what about the whole screen going black during certain times? Like the whole screen goes black while closing certain games, and while in the "continue" section of spiderman remastered. It lasts for like 2-4 seconds (never actually measured it) and then it continues like normal. No graphical glitches

Mine has done that from day 1 have a launch model. Its due to home screen with no game loaded in background, the video setting is set and when launching a game it put it at a higher resolution. I assume it's happening only when you open or close a game out? But if you have a game open, and hit the home button and goto home screen it doesn't do it.

Might be the HDR option. It happens to me when a game has that option enabled and the screen goes black when you exit the game. I think that it’s because the HDR turns off when you are at the home screen

Had mine since launch & the only issue I ever had was some slight artifacting in Sekiro on 1 or 2 walls. It was related to the lowest GPU Vram module (lowest as in , closest to the power supply when stood up ) not getting enough cooling. I think it was something they patched out with a fan speed update, but I also swapped out the stock plates for the better Dbrand darkplates with the fan cutout & started taking it apart to clean out any dust once a month with a blower. Haven't had a single issue with heat management or the GPU since & it'll be 3 years old in November.

I don't know how, thank God, my PS5 blu ray edition, had no problems and it runs perfectly, like day one!!!! I don't know if it was a good batch or not... but i never installed an external hard drive, i never let her in Rest Mode, i play even 8-10 hours sometimes,.. i keep it in a well aired area from all around, i dust her and wipe her with alcohol tissues every week, i dust her once inside and i have her from February 2021,a couple of months from her release.... and that's is all!!! And it's first edition, it makes noise the first 10 seconds when i start her and reading the disc, and otherwise if i throw a needle on the carpet i hear the needle, is so quiet.... Oh yeah... I keep mine console at horizontal as it was meant since PS1.... The Sony site recommended this for reducing the CPU noise, for air to enter from all sides, and the thermal paste it spreading properly!!!

I had this issue it was the tiny filter capacitor next to the pins of the HDMI port on the board was missing. I removed the HDMI port with hot air. Prepped the board then used solder paste to replace the cap with hot air. Finally replaced the HDMI port with a new one and all good 👍. I tested the old HDMI port with a multimeter Before removing it. Pins were all solid and nothing was shorted. So that’s why I’m convinced it was the cap. As I replaced both I can’t be 💯 though. Board was 030 .

I have a launch edition PS5. Really well looked after. Not dusty inside as cleaned and recently it started crashing in games. This was followed by vlack lines appearing in games. Now these lines are appearing in the console menu and i cant even play highly graphical games without crashes. Got the green screen of death today and it wouldnt even turn back on initially. I’ve had my ps5 since launch and I got a new monitor, after about a month of having it brown and black lines started appearing and it got to the point where I couldn’t even move or click anything so I decided to get a new monitor and it’s works great. Do you think the same thing will happen with this monitor overtime?

This has become a major problem in the US. I watched a YT channel can't recall the name sorry and an electrical engineer said he had seen a sudden increase in customers coming into his shop with HDMI port problems on the PS5 the biggest problem with the HDMI port on the PS is over time is the they were not very well manufactured and a lot of them were rushed to get sales number over quality of the product, thankfully I've not experienced an issues with nine since I had it apart from problems with the OS at the beginning it has an issues with caused the console to crash and that was Sony’s fault with the OS.

I take my PS5 apart once a month to clean my HDMI port is still going strong. Honestly I would say pets crawling on consoles and the fact a lot of children own them so aren’t careful with them, is the real problem

While I was Playing FF16, I noticed partway through that some UI elements tend to flicker. Most notably the page dots/indicators when viewing Active Time Lore. Did anyone else experience this? I'm pretty sure it's a bug in FF16 itself, and not my console, but I haven't seen anyone else point this issue out online so far.

Noticed flickering in certain lights during my time in ff16 but when I go bsck to home menu etc there wasn't anything anymore, so must be an ff16 thing

I had a similar experience but with the icon of the abilities points and exp, even the side quest marks (the green badge with the circle) tent to flick a bit. I think this is most likely a problem with FF16 because I switch the game to quality mode and it stop the flickering. But still check if the issue happen in any other game if so, you got a bad GPU.

Not this but my PS5 cannot have a ethernet cable connected as it just spams connected/disconnected messages

Even it turning on by my TV 📺. Simply changing my input then back to to ps5 seems to work also

Got my ps5 like 12 days ago played fine for few hours and then it had abunch white dots while playing destiny2 then it crashed and every game started crashing after a few hours I fixed it by rebuilding system database but then yesterday while playing elden ring the game crashed and now every game crashes except trove which plays for 5 second but with graphical issues then crashes and I can't fix it this time so good thing I'm still within walmarts 30 window
