I was IFB for about 10 years (actually got some good bible grounding) but that included being KJVO, after my first IFB pastor did a series on the subject, which included a lot of lingo like “Textus Receptus” and Vaticanus, etc. Sounded pretty convincing to my younger self. But then I started down the slippery slope of attending a church that used the NKJV 😂. Now I can’t believe this is still such an issue. I love the NASB and ESV.

Bleck... that NASB is stilted and horrible to read... that's just my preference. 😊 I have multiple NASB study bibles. I'm an NRSV guy, and i usually have mine open with an NET full notes edition. Ya, the KJV-only crowd depends on the indoctrination and/or self-selecting ignorance of their congregants to sustain their branding. It has nothing to do with cojent rationale or biblical "doctrine."

I was raised ifb and kjvonly . It was in my early twenties that I became best friends with a couple from another church who wasn’t king James only . I was starting to have a lot of questions about why we were kjvo and why we were right and every one else was wrong and none of the answers I got or lack of answers led me further out the door . I am now a reader and owner of many Bible versions . I have yet to get a copy of Mr. Whites book but i want to read it some day . His videos have taught me so much and help me understand that kjvo is only tradition and not what we as Christians build our faith on . I love my family and kjvonly brothers and sisters in Christ dearly. Now that I’m on the other side of it I look back and feel almost crazy for believing it in the first place .

I disagree with the IFB's misogyny, I think it's rooted in evil and/or misunderstanding. I read the Bible and I don't think there's misogyny in there, there's no hatred of women in the Bible. Slaves too weren't hated by their masters I believe. God created man, both male and female in His image it says in the Bible. Jesus helped women, healed them among other things...the culture at the time was kind of exclusive and suspicious of women, but like the Bible says, God created man, both male and female in His image.

@@jman4817 what is going to matter is if you know Jesus! Will He know you. Did you trust in Him. The simplicity in Christ is greater knowledge than any reformed orthodoxy. This anointing will teach you all things. The anointing in the beginning. The Holy Spirit guiding you, empowering you. I am afraid many miss the faith that goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge. Th faith that is in the power of God not the wisdom of men. Believing God that you are guilty and condemned, then believing in n Jesus to save you from your sins with hope in God. Converted as a child. Many will miss this, and it will be the surety of their wisdom that will keep them from it. The gospel of Jesus is the power of God unto our salvation; this brings us to Christ , in the assurance of hope in God, receiving the love of the truth in Jesus. Many give little weight to the love we received, and practice faith by what they understand. To know the love of Christ, is to depend on Him with much suffering, relying on Him, no matter what. It was not about how great the theology was , it was about trusting God and building the foundation step by step overcoming in Him. Faith being purged, thanking God while going through tremendous trials, being, built up in Hope for the joy that is to come and having peace in Him while fiery trials are raging. The Holy Spirit will shed abroad the love of God in your heart, because of this hope, converted as a child in faith. Being matured in love, may look like something else to certain Christians. Wait and hope in the Lord, keep it simple, grow in grace and truth. Lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. God provided it all and He gives increase, the choice is yours. God can make a man stand!

In my IFB past one of the defining characteristics of a "true" IFB pastor / church was that they were KJVO. The fact that you would even consider the NASB a viable option, let alone *use* the NASB (gasp), would designate you as a liberal compromiser who has been deceived by false perversions of the Scripture. For everyone in that IFB camp you HAD TO BE KJVO to be IFB. So it's challenging for those outside the movement to always make the distinction that there is a KJVO IFB and a non-KJVO IFB. But for me, I have no desire to be remotely confused with KJVO IFB so I never refer to myself or our church as IFB. You can identify yourself & your church as you see fit but in my opinion you are always going to have to be clarifying which type of IFB pastor / church you are.

@Jono I’m NT Reformed in the slightest, but the IFB pastor I know was a college roommate and I went back to Cincinnati and he went back to Texas but we kept in contact with each other. One day, he stopped answering phone calls and Facebook messages and after about a year a googled his name, only to find a newspaper article detailing his arrest. I searched the Texas prison offender search and found his prison ID number so I could contact him.

These IFB preachers built the largest and greatest churches in the usa at one time. Highland Park BC, Lancaster BC, TBC Detrioit, FBC Ft Worth, Akron Bapt, OH. Liberty University. Etc. i wish that james white would put his pride aside long enough to address some of the behavior displayed with evidence by JD Hall. I am a skeptic of all polemists and take nobody at their word when their actions are far different. So when I watched in full the entire video on Protestia yesterday, I went back and watched every video mentioned and read every article that was mentioned as well. I can say with certainty that you owe JD Hall an apology but as JD pointed out, I have never once seen you admit a mistake or being wrong or apologize for anything, and I do not expect you to repair the relationship with JD. JD did however also show how often he defended you even though you were falsely attacking him. An ego and pride are some of the most dangerous things to have a death grip on. Because eventually pride will cause a fall, a great fall at that. I like James White and he is seriously one of the smartest apologists alive today. Unfortunately with that comes a need and desire to always be the smartest man in the room. Imagine if White was a harsh towards the pope, Jeff Durbin, Islamists, Mike Brown or Russell Moore as he was towards JD Hall. Before any of you cult followers of James White come try to tar and feather me, I highly encourage you to actually investigate for yourself, look for yourself and watch the video put out by Protestia that has all of the times/dates/examples/videos/articles with the original links. Go think for yourself, go watch for yourself instead of emoting because you like someone who thinks he's smarter than you. White owes him an apology, and I bet that JD would not secretly record it and release it a year later under an anonymous name. But I will be proven right when I predict the following: James White will once again lie about JD and attack him, white will never apologize or admit wrongdoing towards JD (or anyone for that matter), and eventually something at some time from some point in time will bring him to a point of humility if he does not humble himself first. A lot can be seen about someone by how they handle when they are wrong. He was wrong about Moore and defended Moore way back in 2015 when JD was calling him out for the wolf he is, and suddenly White does not support Moore any longer. He will defend Mohler who keeps promoting all of these weak impotent professors who are teaching CRT, and White will continue to give a benefit of a doubt for these guys who are teaching destructive doctrines. Time is the ultimate test, and I know that I witnessed for myself that time has proven JD Hall to be right. JD is not perfect, but he is will openly apologize and admit when he is wrong or when he has wronged someone and ask for forgiveness.

I would truly like to know how Tutus 2:13 could be improved from the KJV.
