A lot of this could be cleared up if Postmillennialists would just address the issue of the 2nd Advent/Coming of Christ. But, they don't typically do that, sadly.

I'll always trust Jews on the OT rather than the Septuagint. The tradition of the Septuagint is very misleading. Another problem is that in context with the surrounding chapters kind of kind of requires 2 virgin births. A virgin birth at the time of writing (he was speaking of something that was current in time) and one in the future of Christ (if you take this as prophecy and I don't). I think that infant baptism was started mainly because of “original sin” and the frequent infant deaths historically. Catholic churches believed that the infant could go to heaven if it were baptized before death. I agree though, that it must first be done by a person of faith, believing that Jesus died for the remission of sin and appropriate the gift, followed by immersion baptism for what I am saying is the final part of circumsizing the heart and fullfilling His word. It is a testimony of sorts and puts us in the new family, the Church.

In Jeremiah 19:5 God says, "The people built the high places to sacrifice their children to idols something I did NOT command nor did I speak it nor did it enter my mind. Further, God is not willing that ANY should perish but that all should come to repentance. But Jesus HIMSELF says, "Broad is the road that leads to destruction and MANY ARE ON IT. But straight is the way and narrow the gate that leads to life and FEW find it. So if God's will is ALL shall come to repentance and therfore salvation, you can see God's will in this matter is certainly NOT being done.

One must also vonsider the nature of " punishment". The scripture says the wicked will receive according to what they did in the body. In other words, there is a consequence for sin, and scripture tells us it is DEATH. NOT eternal life in the tortures of hellfire.
