I really like how Samson explained chest going heavier. You’re incorporating shoulders. We use our shoulders and arms on a daily basis. Our shoulders are more dominant. I noticed when I go heavy my front shoulders start to hurt. And get super tight. But when I go lighter my shoulders do not hurt or feel tight like a pump at all. Because I’m able to isolate just my chest muscles. Even if you contract your chest good. Say 80% chest and 20% shoulders help to push the heavier weight. You’re not getting maximum chest growth. I try so hard to explain this to people. Heavy weight means nothing. If you want to build a good physique or you want to be a power lifter is two different things. But by going lighter. Really isolating the chest muscles 100% chest front delts 0% after a while if you want to go heavy to just see. I have always increased my strength by going lighter actually isolating my chest in full with lighter weights more reps. And then max out and it makes it so much easier.
