But Juliette is one of France's highest payed and better known actresses . She is an Oscar Winner and her career has yet to take a setback although she has been in the biz for decades. She is superb but she is not underrated .

Juliette is not underrated at all. She s one of the best and know actress of all times! In all the world! And Ethan is very famous too. Well Deneuve is other story completly, she s THE Sophia Loren of France, one of THE best actresses of the world since 1950/60.

@@lauralunaazul There is no equivalent of Sophia Loren in France . Her and Deneuve are polar opposites if anything . Sophia in her prime was global and a major sex symbol ( an Oscar Winner also ) . Deneuve is Marcello level . Famous in Europe , critically acclaimed , long career and stylish . Never made it in the US /Hollywood and no Oscar. There were many actresses in Italy that were internationally famous but Sophia is the only one who took Hollywood by storm , won two Oscars , made the AFI list and all that has yet to be done by any other European actress . She is also one of the biggest sex symbol of all times . She is peerless and without equivalent . Deneuve is famous in Europe and has had a great career but she is not the most famous french actress of all time while Sophia definitely is the most famous Italian actress of all time . Bardot , Moreau , Signoret , Schneider , Huppert and to some extent Adjani were all just as famous and some of them even more than her . Cotillard ( french btw ) is the only one who has come close to having the career of Loren in US and her fame/ legit Oscar for an iconic performance but she lacks the glamour and sexiness of Loren to be compared . I know Juliette has won and Oscar as well but her Oscar was frankly underwhelming . She is still one of the best french actresses and for my money a much better one than Deneuve . Seniority and accomplishments aside Deneuve was never a natural imo . She grew through the years and is a fine actress but Binoche is by far the superior actress in my book since we are at it .

It was shot by Eric Gautier who has been Assayas's cinematographer on a few films like Summer Hours, Irma Vep, and Something in the Air so that's not surprising.

I didn't want to see this film despite Deneuve having been one of my favourite actresses for decades. It seems that she and Binoche are churning movies out like hot cakes. And as a member of the public you feel they're overexposed now. What used to occur with Depardieu. The critics superlatives don't mean much to me these days. How often they're wrong, anyway. A friend saw it and said it was rather slow and nothing much in the way of a plot.

It's a wonderful movie about the mother/daughter/granddaughter relationship. And, Binoche is great in everything she does. No such thing as "overexposure" when you are as good as she is. The more movies she does, the better for film goers. She picks her projects well and likes to play different kinds of roles.
