It's literally a telescreen from 1984 now. I always hated the concept of these things, and now they're even worse.

Same size, lower resolution. I would stick with the Swith, at least you can play games

Yep. It's meant to be seen at distance, generally when you're running away from the amazon drones and it is displaying a laughing skull and/or a message thanking you for your purchase.

Nice (screws plentiful) not glue! Repairable + modular connectors (repairable) T5 + T6 Soldering wear prone components to a motherboard is unethical : good for marking them down for that! Gluing the digitizer to the LCD is unethical & not needed : a good mechanical junction has perfect optical performance (stacked books ring a bell?) (office printing paper stacks) the layers do not have to be glued to line up nicely with a firm mechanical interface. (Similarly only marginally unethical to glue the display module down to the frame as doing so makes sense from a build quality robustness of the final product perspective.) 4 out of 10 seems a little harsh, but I can see why you gave it that score! Good on you for sharing the truth!

People say the Show is overpriced but what I think were paying for is the extra option for Alexa to show us stuff on the screen and the speakers are better then the echo speakers. For those who don't have the show yet it might be on sale during the big amazon prime day starting July 10th. You think 229 is high wait till the Apple Siri Version releases in Dec. It's over $300. This is no fire tablet. I have a fire hd and it lags so bad and I can't hardly hear youtube videos with the volume maxed. The show is a lot louder then the fire hd and so far I haven't experienced any lag. I hope the show will be a success like the original echo is

Amazon Echo Show is LITERALLY all screwed up, with essentially a low end Android 7" tablet and an amp in it.. Shades of 1970's prototyping!
