I honestly get why some people are annoyed that there are almost exclusively super dynamic boulders. It has nothing to do with the origin of climbing anymore. I'm fine with 50-60 percent of the boulders being dynamic. But often all of them are dynamic. Yes its cool, but it gets a little boring. Its like plain bread. still very nice, but i wouldnt eat a whole loaf in one setting. I need something else in between. Or idk seperate the boulder cups and do one exclusively dynamic and parcour-y and one technical, strength based and static anyway: thank you for uploading!

@Bodoczky2 жыл бұрын
It was a false start. The climber needs to stop a bit (establish) when touching all 4 contact points when starting a climb. He didn't do that, and the judges were slow to make the decision to call him down from the climb. He did get more opportunities to climb again, but that might have cost him a medal.
@FallLineJP2 жыл бұрын
@@Bodoczky Thanks for the detail! There should really be a rule about how fast the infraction needs to be called, especially since his beta didn't look all that different from what the others ended up using. Sounds like it wasn't necessarily the judges making a call but some sort of external challenge too? Not great sportsmanship if so...
@scottwangkl88822 жыл бұрын
@@FallLineJP I agree, the infraction came way too late. It was a clear false start. His hands were on the start hold for a shorter duration than his legs and that is not "establishing control" as opposed to what Paul had done.

Wow this is a parkour competition, do they do some climbing as well?
@inerti42 жыл бұрын
Parkour is mostly about running forward while passing obstacles in your way in a flowing motion (so some of it is speed/dynamic climbing). This is pure dynamic climbing with a lot of static moves in between, which fits boulder-style in my opinion. Horizontal is parkour, vertical is climbing 🤷♂️

The confusion with M3: It was a harsh judging. From what I can tell, on his first top both his hands were slipping; lack of control. Second top he did not show control from all four limbs on the start. If you look at his left hand, it does look very unstable. Props to him for topping it 3 times!

Rule 8.18 defines a correct start as a stable starting positions, which was added to prevent run & jump starts from the pad. In his first and second topped attempt he never "stops" but carries momentum from the pad into the jump, i.e. never displays a stable starting position. Plus he's not shown to be solid on the starting position in any other attempt. Hence, any nation raising an objection forcing him to properly start is right, but the judges were a bit slow on calling him down on his 2nd top when he did the dynamic "run" though the starting position again. I suspecgt if they had instructed him propely, in that he has started incorrectly the need for a 3rd top could have been avoided.

Thanks for clearing it up! I think it's a strange way to handle the issue. In other sports, a live referee decision in the moment is always the truth (at best corrected by an immediate video appeal, as in tennis, where they can challenge decisions if they think the ball was still in). You won't see the teams in a football match come out again after the final whistle because the ref decided that at some point there should have been a penalty given. So they should just call the guy off immediately, or give him the send. The way they do it the climber is punished for the judges seeing the fake start too late, because he has to spend all the unnecessary energy.
@Thedemonlord662 жыл бұрын
@@bits_for_bytes not the only one to make It, but yeah I thought the judge decision was kinda harsh on the attempt, even if Its left-hand brush past the starting hold It seems valid. His first start was indeed not valid tho.
