Wow?? 🤔😳 When the legendary Steffi Graf was 22 years she had already won the Australian Open (3 times), French Open (2 times), Wimbledon (3 times), US Open (2 times), WTA championships (2 times), one Olympic gold medal ... At the age of 19 Steffi Graf won all GS tournaments plus the Olympic gold medal in one year. This performance can be called 'WOW'.

@@yolle2389 There was a lot more competition and not less; back then women's tennis was thrilling and not boring. When Steffi Graf was active Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert were active too. And one shouldn't forget Monica Seles, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. Serena and Venus Williams also dominated tennis as of 1995 until 2022. Again, Iga Swiatek is a great tennis player, but she'll never ever be a goat like these above mentioned ladies.

@@FrankDittrich51 LOL the use of your 'never ever' is not gonna age well pal. she's 22 years old - not sure what your issue is but perhaps you should revert back to the present moment rather than compare 2023 to the past. and I stand by my point, there was much less competition overall, and tennis was less popular in general. plus, no one is taking anything away from the greats of the past so not sure why you feel the need to prove your flawed point here. but whatever floats your boat of course.

By the way, it's the same with men's tennis, otherwise someone like Djokovic wouldn't still be on top of the ranking. ... There will never be again someone like Djokovic, Federer or Nadal. @@thecookie0079 i was rooting for Aryna in the semis but Iga was so solid and forced Aryna to hit an extra shot which caused her to go for too much to win the point and resulting in an error (mostly from her forehand). The conditions were not helpful for either player but Iga handled her emotions and the pressure better. Wishing both the best for the future.

I thought it was really notable in this tournament how much Iga had improved her serving, both placement and power, as well as her forward movement and volleying at key moments. Her use of high topspin forehands against Pegula was also devastatingly effective. I honestly think the rest of the top 10 need to spend time diversifying their games and devising strategies to deal with Iga (Sabalenka in particular, who I love but whose game is beginning to look too narrowly focused on power) - because if Iga is playing like this in 2024 she is going to keep ripping players apart. I am very impressed with this young woman!
