Iga was talented and harworking when she won RG. But after RG, she lacked combativity. She did poorly in GS and played few tournaments. Now she is a different animal. She has fighting spitit. I am not fan of fist pumping but I like to see her fighting hard.

So much to love here. Two Masters 1000 victories in a month and playing at the best level I've seen since the 2020 French Open. Sakkari beat her in their first 3 meetings, but Iga has won the last 2. Swiatek will be very tough in the French this year if she keeps this up. Realizing all the potential we've seen in her at such a young age. Congrats!

Incidentally, I also noticed that Iga abandoned a gesture she used to make at the end of victories - putting her hand one her mouth just like Nadal used to do early in his career - and now she throws her racket into the air. She is no longer just emulating her hero but being her own player now.

She won Adelaide and Roma but she looked scared to hurt herself or her opponent. She did very poorly in GS. I had echoes that it could be linked to her long time polish coach not doing the right thing and that she needed to be change. I don't know if this is the reason. I just see she is a better fighter now. Her mentality has changed. Wish her the best from now. This season can be great for her. Cmon Iga!

Yes, very young winner indeed. WTA tour has produced so many young champions, but not always guaranteed anything. That's said, in hindsight following her performance particularly from Dubai onwards, her improvement is undoubtedly impressive. Her composure does not match her age. So much difference in Iga's mentality. Winning RG2020 showed her talent and potential, but she wasn't mentally ready for a huge success. Later, we witnessed quite a few breakdowns when she was losing. I remember after one of the lost game against Sakkari she just broke in tears and Maria had to hug her. And most of the time when she lost the first set she rarely came back. On Indian Wells we've seen different Iga, since she changed her coach she got mentally stronger, she had couple of games when she lost first set and successfully came back in great style. She doesn't give up, fights till the end. Hope she keeps this form up

Iga played 13 finals in the WTA, of which she won 12 (WTA 5 and ITF 7). He has the winner gene! Difficult conditions of the game spoiled the final a bit, but it was not that bad. IKR re: drop shot? may resurface a bit on clay. She killed with it at 2020 French but no so much lately. It’s ironic and speaks to Witkorowski’s skills as a coach because he worked really hard with Radwanska on strategically deploying the drop shot

Definitely not a pretty match, but Iga better adapted to the wind and stayed calm. Her return was so good (2nd serve return win: 80%). Hugs to Maria. She will be back stronger. She's a hard worker and it will pay off sooner or later.
