Fun Fact: Doom was originally going to be an Aliens game, and Id had already begun negotiations with fox to have the rights, but they later scrapped the idea, and we got the best FPS ever in many (including my own) peoples opinion.

I finally bought this game for like 8 bucks, honestly I think reviews were overly hard on this game, it is a bit glitchy but not to where it's unplayable the game is basically a fun arcade style shooter with fun multiplayer and cool big hunt mode that ppl still play. It's not the greatest game but it's def not this gens ET or superman 64 either.

It's common to dumb down this game, but actually it's not that bad. The visuals are ok but simple. The crosshair jumps all over the place which makes aiming difficult. The story is razor thin and it lacks a bit of the Alien atmosphere. All in all just an average shooter which can safely bought during a Steam sale if you like fps. For the serious Alien(s) fan it might be a bit disappointing.

I bought the game for $5. Mainly for the sole fact my Fiancé wanted to play it and I found myself having some fun with it. The visuals are ok. But what they're lacking is Atmosphere. Besides that, If you like shooters. You might enjoy this game and that's about it. But as someone said, If you're a serious Aliens fan (Like my Fiancé) . You might be disappointed, She enjoys it. So it's by far the best $5.00 I spent. And it allows us to play a game together that isn't Minecraft.

take notice this game had billions of updates and was refurbished upon releases. Basically, up to 1 year later they got a game which was somewhat finished. The first release was so bad it looked like a PS2 game almost.

You do have a good point about the storytelling. Some story threads were left hanging but since I'm a Halo nerd, I know a lot about the lore, so it isn't much of a problem. The Prometheans weren't "bullet sponges". The were tough and calculating enemies that used great tactics to keep you off balance and dish out damaging blows, They also knew how to work together to fight you.

If you want a truly scary scenario where you feel hunted from start to finish, then AvP (2000) as the Marine is the way to go. Limited everything BUT the hordes of Xenomorphs at your heels makes you feel like time is an asset you dont have much of, and the faster you get to the end the better... until the next unrelenting mission. as the saying goes, the only easy day was yesterday.

The sheer amount of "Halo isn't ripping this off" comments baffle me, even when the makers themselves state they made a few homages to the way James Cameron did Space Marines in that film. A shame those games can pay more respect to the source material than a supposed sequel to the film.

I don't know why people say this is a bad game, I got it I think it is really enjoyable. I mean yes the boss battle was bad, but other than that it was fairly well done. The campaign was unique was very fun: 7/10. And the multiplayer was probably the best and one of the most addictive multiplayer since halo in my option: 9.5/10. Overall: 8.5/10.

The gameplay was pre-recorded and pre-rendered. This was why over 2-3 years it was always the same footage and also why the public only ever had access to a single match of Marines multilayer at gaming conventions.

My first impressions were awesome, I'm still in the first mission but what i saw until now and my experience is extremely positive. I gonna see if there are so much negatives people complain about soon. But for now it starts to become one of my favorite singleplayer games.

I feel like people are too hard on Aliens games. I enjoyed this game and Alien Isolation. My biggest problem with Isolation was that the alien didn't really appear to way later in the game, but once it starts up it gets really good.

(Expanding) The reason that games like Half Life or The Last of Us work so well in storytelling, is because they treat the perspective of their main character realistically, showing them what information about the lore or further story as if the world doesn't revolve around them. The first Halo had a bit of this as well - the player is meant to learn what little they can through self discovery, and as in real life, self discovery doesn't yield everything, thus making the events feel tangible.

It's great that the A.I. was intelligent but it does't necessarily translate to fun. Draining a Knights health only for it to teleport away is very annoying, especially if you don't have a plasma pistol. The fact that they can come back to life or have a shield provided for them is ridiculous. I could see them being fun to fight if they were rare like hunters, but you just encounter so many that it becomes tedious.

Also the reason why borderlands 2 was done so well was because they had apparently spent the money that SEGA gave them for this Aliens game and put alot of it into their Borderlands game.

Look at Borderlands series, when the Devs saw that fans were not happy with something they tried there best to fix it in the next game. Adding new customization options, better weapons, better customization new characters with new powers, bigger worlds, new vehicles, better quest. Now look at CoD they added zombies that one game, changed the models on the weapons to pass them off as new ones, they changed the character models and left the piss poor AI. Should I keep going?

I brought Halo 4 into this because I personally love that game. It's the best of the series in my opinion. When you compare Halo 4 and Aliens: Colonial Marines, you see a great difference in quality. Halo 4 is a far superior FPS experience.

How is the plot "cliche" with "no depth" and Master Chief "unlikable"? I like how Halo has a deep universe with many different stories to tell. The main story has a great sense of tension and high stakes with a dark past and a hero to stop humanity's destruction. I personally think the Master Chief is a hero of few words that does what's necessary to make sure the survival of humanity in assured not to mention that he is one bad motherf*cker. BO2 aint THAT bad,the campaign was pretty good IMO and trying to get the best ending made me play it again. Multiplayer changed a bit like with the "pick 10" class setup and more balanced weapons,but lag is still a major problem and the maps are too small.It aint a bad game,just that some in the COD community boasts about it so much that makes non-COD players jump on the hater bandwagon. There is a difference: Halo's combat has changed drastically since the 1st title, and every time and AC game is made Ubisoft tries to add to the physics engine like the boat combat in AC3. As far as Fifa is concerned, they have to make a game every single year to keep up with stats (despite every game after Fifa 11 could have been DLC, and not even that much so), so they have an excuse. And actually thinking of it, gamelplay isn't even really necessary to an interactive experience anyway considering that many games kind of screw it up. Look at the entire adventure genre where the entirety of the gameplay consists of fetch quests or much of the survival horror genre, where the gameplay is often extremely laborious but is made by it's atmosphere. Furthermore, the terming of "good" gameplay is far to broad to really be considered valid.

But Metal Gear Rising isn't the same as Metal Gear Solid. Where as Solid stars Snake and is stealth based, Rising stars Raiden and is action based. If it was called MGS and had everything Rising has in it, then yes, I would see your point, but it's not MGS.

I would be happy for them to make a sequel. The story seems to end too suddenly but it has a lot of playabilty in multiplayer. Seriously if they can give a good score to Resident Evil 5 then this deserves better than it got. IGN have destroyed a game that deserved a chance. IGN should allow players to give their opinions who actually like it rather than vomit all over it.

I have to disagree with you here. I personally think the gameplay is the most important thing when it comes to video games since that's what gives them replay value. The story always needs to be good, but it should never detract from or hinder the gameplay in any way, it shouldn't break the pacing with cutscenes and scripted set pieces and it should never limit the player's freedom. I wish more games took the Half Life route of telling a story organically through the environment.

Black Ops 1 got an 8.5 and please do not go into a CoD is bad flame war. Black Ops 2 is a great game and deserves a high score. Fantastic campaign, fun zombies, and addictive multiplayer that anyone who hasn't devoted their time to mindlessly hating CoD will enjoy. Dude I literally JUST got my order from Amazon yesterday. You know what it was? 6 omnibus collections of Aliens based graphic novels. 400 pages each. 2400 pages of Aliens. Comics alone. Add in crossovers with AVP movies, books, games, graphic novels and so on and I'd say they are fairly even, if not more so to the Alien franchise.
