+noobb1212 Wind Waker HD was also just a HD update but that looked brilliant. I hate people always trying to excuse Nintendo for their shortcomings. I love Twilight Princess HD. It has some brilliant additions, and the graphical update isn't that bad, but Nintendo definitely could have taken some more time for this, Right now, I could get a better looking game on Dolphin with some texture packs.

Here's what I would've done with Twilight Princess HD: Production Values: 1) Compose an orchestrated soundtrack, but allow the MIDI soundtrack as an option. 2) Add trees, grass, roaming animals, vegetation, and some wind to Hyrule Field 3) Make the overworld darker during night time 4) Mountains and hills gain more polygons and better textures Core Gameplay: 1) Make the goat herding tutorials optional 2) Make all 3 Tears of Light sections optionally skippable 3) Add a temporary save statue on each floor of a dungeon 4) Add more horse whistles throughout the overworld. 5) Add a quest logue in the menu 6) Epona's dash refreshes 20% more quickly while out of combat 7) Link swims 20% faster 8) Wolf Link gains more attacks and abilities Item Buffing: 1) Slingshot has infinite ammo and increased firing speed 2) Spinner moves faster off-rail, inflicts some damage and stuns enemies 3) Ball & Chain has less start lag and less end lag Difficulty: 1) Give all common enemies 1.5x health, 1.5x damage and 1.25 moving speed 2) In Hyrule Field, there are twice as many enemies, plus added hazards in several areas Overworld: 1) Hyrule Field has a dozen new secret cave entrances accessible by solving item based puzzles 2) In the caves, are a horde of enemies, a new puzzle to solve and a treasure chest containing a costume for Link 3) These treasure chests contain 1 of 100 random possible costumes, you can trade them with people online. 4) Hyrule Field contains several merchant stands: a potion shop, a bomb/arrow shop, a shop selling shield/sword upgrades, a few mini-games and other surprises 5) In the Lake Hylia cannon, for 100 rupees, you can warp to hard to access places you've already visited. Boss Fights: 1) Fyrus (Goron Mines) -- Fiery bokoblins and archer enemies harass the player 2) Zant (Palace of Twilight) -- Inflicts 1.5x the damage on the player 3) Armagohma (Temple of Time) -- Spiders and insects harass the player. Also spinning blades surround the room. 4) Ganondorf -- Has 1.5x health, inflicts 2.0x damage and can counterattack common exploits. 5) Deku Toad - (Lakebed Temple miniboss) is stunned for a shorter period of time

Ryan Clay The changes to the Tears of Light did nothing. You still had to backtrack the ENTIRE AREA. It made a the 40 minute side quest into a 30 minute side quest. They should have just taken it out.

I really wish they would have added more realistic lighting to this game like they did with Wind Waker HD. Wind Waker has incredibly stylized visuals, but with the improved lighting, the world feels much more real in spite of this. The way light hits objects in Wind Waker HD just looks fantastic. If they did the same in TP HD, I think the visuals would look more up to par with today's standards, but it would probably change the atmosphere in certain areas, so they probably opted not to alter the original too much.

Twilight Princess is the best game ever made in my opinion, a MASTERPIECE, a WORK OF ART. They could have done more with the graphics. Look at Wind Waker HD. They could've upgraded the shaders, the lighting in general, and overhauled the textures. They can't just slap a couple of new textures on in spots and up the resolution and call it an "HD Remake". As a person who has played TP several times through, and racked up about 400 hours total, I'm really disappointed in this. I can hardly see a difference between this and the original. Shame.

The resolution has been increased from 480p to 1080p, the textures have been improved, you can make use of the gamepad for a few things like aiming weapons and equipping inventory, there’s hero mode which is basically hard mode, amiibo support and a new optional dungeon that can be unlocked by using the Wolf Link amiibo, I’d say pick this version up

Do you think Nintendo would make better games if reviewers gave them harsher and more honest criticism? Do not get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Twilight Princess but after seeing the updates done to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask this seems very lazy. I was actually suprised Jose cited issues with the graphical "clean-ups" considering he defends Nintendo games often on Voice Chat. I just feel like Nintendo gets away with putting out inferior games because of the nostalgic reputation they have built. It's why they can put an interation of "New Super Mario Bros." on every single one of their consoles. Why does this keep happening? I would like to see Nintendo take more chances and stop cashing in on jaded icons.

*"Lackluster graphics"* Why does everyone seem to think that this was going to have some crazy overhaul of the graphics?? They definitely could have spent extra time to do that but it's simply not what this HD update was about... not to mention it still looks pretty damn good.

For me, I didn't really like playing this game without a notched octagon GameCube joystick. Sometimes it's easy to miss jumps because link is either going slightly left or slightly right. I heard they modified the controls but it doesn't feel like it.

I get Nintendo is suffering from the economy, but i dont think its worth it, TP needed a full remake, Zelda is the reason i love videogames, but nintendo insults trying to milk money from fans...wich most will give (i bet Miyamoto didnt agreed to this but had no choice)

I get where you are coming from... but I don't think a complete remake would be worth it for a game we've already played. It's not old enough to remake it like Ocarina of time and Majora's mask. I rather have them put the time into making the new zelda on Wii U/NX as perfect as possible rather than wasting time and effort in remaking a 9 year old game. This remaster is perfect for people who did not play it back then. And kinda fills the gap waiting for the new game.

well remember that when you get remakes they add a lot of new content, new graphics, perhaps new weapons and bosses....coolest designs of the tunics, i mean TP is the only realistic game of the franchise....

Boku9765 Pretty sure the 3DS is between the Gamecube and Wii in terms of power, the New 3DS would probably be able to run it, not too great maybe but still.

I can't believe im saying this but in Igns DEFENSE, its an 8.6 even with one con because for an HD rerelease, its not exactly doing the HD part

As a HD port, I think an 8.6 is fair enough. They didn't do much aside from update a few textures and up-scale to 1080p, not as drastic an update as Wind Waker HD, which almost looks completely different.

It was a fantastic game relative to the time. It's still good, but a lot of bigger, better games have come out in those 10 years. I assume you're a young'un if you're surprised by that notion.

They keep saying that this HD version was made by Nintendo, but it was actually made by Tantalus. It's a shame that the actual developers of games always get overlooked in favor of the publisher.

Why would they get Jose to review this? He has said many times he's not a big fan of it and didnt think it should have gotten a remake. Why wouldn't they get someone who has no expectations going in?

As someone who just acquired a new wii u just to have a LOZ marathon, and who has also never beat this game, this remake is more than welcome. Had it one day and Im already in Goron Village.
