Ignaz Josef Pleyel's work is diverse, but the existence of this Requiem is surprising because there was a stereotype that there were many instrumental works. It seems that Pleyel's work has about 60 symphonies, but I can not find the sound source. The only sound sources I have are Concerto Sinfonia in A major and F major, Viola Concerto in D major, Clarinet Concerto in B flat major and C major. This beloved Requiem is beautiful, noble, majestic and full of elegance, and I think it's music that clearly shows what heaven looks like.

This Fequiem Mass will be performed in the "All Saints' Day" Concert on November 1st 2022 at 5PM (17;00 Hours) in the Babenbergerhalle in Klosterneuburg, Austria, along with Haydn's "Trauersymphonie", Beethoven's "Elegischer Gesang" and Bruckner's "Adagio".

Excellent. This masterpiece hadn't been included into the succulent Pleyel Edition box. Pleyel music is always of the highest quality and he wrote virtually in any genre. I think he's worth Michael Haydn hence guess it's a substantial appreciation, according to your taste, isn't it? 😉

Can you believe me I recently discovered this masterpiece! I was highly shocked when I listened it. It automatically was included in my Requiem's top five list! Outstanding work! I wonder why it remains very unknown yet. Pleyel music is unfairly underrated due, probably, he was the 'advantaged pupil' of Haydn and he remained overshadowed by his teacher... For sure he deserves to be included as the same level than Haydn(s), Salieri, Sterkel, Vanhal, Naumann, Gossec, Clementi, Hummel, Reicha, Kozeluch...

@@Reciclassicat agree buddy! Actually the beauty of this Requiem I've also listened first time here resides in its sense of peace and celestial consolation rather than grieve and sorrow. So, yes, complementary and equivalent to Michael Haydn masterwork

Magnifico! Sono un estimatore di Pleyel, e vado a caccia soprattutto delle sue sinfonie, bette tanto quanto quelle di Haydn. E' a conoscenza di una registrazione integrale di queste sinfonie? Grazie

Lamentablemente, la mayoría de las sinfonías de Pleyel no han sido recuperadas. Por lo que no existe una edición integral de las mismas... Una lástima teniendo en cuenta la belleza de su música. Su Requiem, parecido al de su predecesor Franz Xaver Richter en Estrasburgo, asi nos lo demuestra. Saludos,
