One of my fav bands. I was honoured to have met Helle (lead singer) and Evgeny (keys/ composer) in August 2021 when on holiday in Kyiv. I did a short interview in my hotel and bought all their CD's and a t-shirt. Incidentally, this was only 6 months before the war started. My profile photo is of myself, Helle and Evgeny :-) These guys deserved to be huge. As a matter of fact, the song Alga was written in response to Putin's 2014 first invasion of the Donbas and Crimea. Million days and nights before When only tarpans ruled this world Our nomad fathers took it in their hands Warm from coddling sun by day Cooled by sea breezing by nights It is loved so hard that our heart just lights No one can take our land from us, it is our home And no one can decide for us, leave us all alone We will hold arms to death until the last of us stands still We will destroy and crush all foes, we'll shout 'Alğa!' and kill! Violet lilacs fill the woods Meadows full of grass an fruits Mountain peaks of limestone pierce the blue-blue sky Stormy waves crash on the rocks Grapes entwine the antic scree How can one not love this land of sun and sea? No one can take our land from us, it is our home And no one can decide for us, leave us all alone We will hold arms to death until the last of us stands still We will destroy and crush all foes, we'll shout 'Alğa!' and kill! How dare you godless bastards step on my land? How dare you touch my daughters and sons? This will be your last steps, unless you turn Put your two-headed eagle in your arse and run! No one can take our land from us, it is our home And no one can decide for us, leave us all alone We will hold arms to death until the last of us stands still We will destroy and crush all foes, we'll shout 'Alğa!' and kill!

Hi y’all, so great to see you again. Don’t know the band but I liked the music. Epica is doing concerts in September in the Netherlands and December 2024 in Mexico with a full orchestra and choir. Of course I’ve got tickets. Love y’all

Great to see you all back with this Ukrainian band that I prefer to Jinjer. They were the 1st Ukrainian band to co-operate with a philharmonic orchestra.

Excellent reaction. Like many Slavic bands, Ignea is a talented group in a genre that is overly focused on Scandinavian bands. Too many people seem to think NW is the only band in the genre and refuse to even consider some might be as good or better. One interpretation of the upside-down crosses is the betrayal of the people of Ukraine by the Russian Orthodox Church and its support of the Russian invaders.

What? This song is talking about how much they love their land and the historical conflict between Russia and certain independent territories which they want to control, So it's basically about Ukranians and other people loving their home and how much they are willing to fight to defend their land against Russia, in fact this song makes direct references to Russia (the godless bastards) when they mention the two-headed eagle which is the symbol of Russia

The song was about protecting the sovereignty of their homeland, and I applaud them for that, so I don't understand your comments about religion?

It's a thing with the backdrops behind the band in the video that those comments were made about. In all fairness, we have never heard them before making this video. Sometimes the video aspects can cloud someone's judgement about what specifically a particular song is about. Apologies for the mistake. We thought th

The upside-down cross, the words lewd, sin pleasure. I PERSONALLY FIND DISTURBING.. They were in the background. Reaction videos are, in all honesty, the reactors' view of the videos. My words are true to my knowledge and beliefs. I stand by that as a Christian. AS A SONGWRITER and fellow musicians, the song and performances are a masterpiece....in my opinion, thank you for your comment 😊
