Hi souls when i first listened to this song, I thought not sure i like this but it intrigued me to stay with it, And now i am impressed. I looked for lyrics meaning and it seems it is about a Countries foreign policy with Black Honey being oil and the repercussions and pain this causes ( Note these are not my political views). It can also be viewed as any action that we humans repeat even though we realise that it causes us pain such as drug addiction, see the verse about the pin and the butterfly the pin part of an addicts drug kit and the hallucinations caused by the drug (pretty colours) Black honey is the goal but it never lasts there is no nirvana in the end, The cutting of the cherry tree is an attempt to stop the destructive nature of these behaviors as it affects all of us including our loved ones, but in the end the lyricist keep `s on with the self destructive behavior

Thrice are my all time favorite band. I love seeing people hear them for the first time. They do have a lot of Christian themes in a lot of their music. Some better songs to check out by them are “Stand and Feel Your Worth”, “In Exile”, “Beggars”, “Treading Paper” and “Words in the Water”.

This song is about the USA's approach to foreign oil policies, from what I've heard.

Decent melodies, but I found the lyrics to be very disturbing. My interpretation in the song is about a very bitter and destructive person who demands his every want and desire be granted, regardless of the consequences. Stay safe and God Bless.

🇫🇮❤ I use honey every day, but this was my 1st time hearing this band that according to Wikipedia comes from Irvine, CA, & was formed in 1998 and is still active. Not a bad song, but nothing special either.
