I felt the same about Echo216 the Pilot in Halo Infinite at first. Thankfully he does have an excellent character arc. He is not only there to put the Chief and the Weapon into a relatable perspective for the audience, and helps to build upon their characters, but is also directly connected to the overall themes of the game. I grew to like him by the end which I’m sure was the intent of the writers

Yea, I think people end up mixed on him. He's certainly not the cool dude, and I get how some people feel he's either just a sidekick to set up MC or who just kinda brings down the tone overall. But you're right, I think he really embodies the overall theme of the game (hope, in spite of your mistakes and shortcomings and limitations) the most clearly, even though he's the least connected to the grander story.

The grunts were considered cannon fodder by the Covenant and were deployed in groups of 50, prior to the elites going to battle but but there was one Grunt who kept coming back, long story short he rebelled against the covenant and became a kinda of pirate stealing tech from the Covenant building his own army, now his group is called the banished…not sure why he also wants to kill humans also though

Feels like it's only been a few months since last years Xmas Scoop. Great year everyone Game I've had most replay so far is Forza 5 but Halo is rivaling its playtime lately. However, my GOTY would have to be Psychonauts 2. That game has so much charm and is the only game I 100% this year

I rate this show higher than Unlocked and Beyond is because these 4 guys are awesome. Second on my list is Next gen console watch. Daemon is a really good host. And these 3 guys are so informed yet they are witty when imparting it. The original cast of unlocked was really good but its not the same since Brandin Tyrell left

I took Sam's question about 3D games winning GotY as a hint for why some people (myself included) were probably disappointed Metroid Dread didn't win. Dread was the best game I've played this year by far. But I don't foresee a 2D game ever winning the award. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I'll say the Halo Infinite campaign is kinda.. MEANT.. to be confusing at the start. They don't do a good job of assuaging players so that they can settle in and be ok with not knowing. Everything relevant to the story (and yes, there are still many untouched - and likely important - gaps in the details) is explained in the story - Why is Cortana bad? Why are the Banished so mad and trying to kill all humans? Why can't anyone leave? But at the same time, that stuff isn't the core of the story, which is just a small personal tale about people* trying to find their humanity - and maybe gather some hope even through every stumble along the way. Banished are an offshoot of the covenant, and yes, grunts are at the bottom of the rung. But no, they're not mercenaries per se. And they are EXPLICITLY not subjugated. All of the Banished are there by choice. And, in fact, you see grunts in positions of power and authority that you would likely never see in Covenant (aka: the grunt propaganda master lol). That said, some of them ARE mercenaries. In fact, lots of great Jackal dialogue about getting paid lol.

"I've finished 8 games" "I've played far into these games"- followed by " I played a couple of hours of these games" Mainstream gaming journalist are pretty open about not finishing games. Its baffling people take them seriously these days considering there are so many smaller teams that respect the position they're in. The iron lord's podcast, last stand media, ham radio, Mr Matty plays, acg etc etc I'm definitely not trying to be rude towards you, or judge your opinion, just asking why you feel the way you do.

I'm assuming you meant antagonist or I missed the protagonist bit. Atriox is presumed dead and was the main leader of the halo wars 2 banished. The antagonist that talks to you is Escharum so the scoop crew brought that abit confusing. But yes Escharum speaks about atriox his legacy from the first mission onward I believe.
