Zetec st170 powered mk2 fiesta MaxxECU fitting

so yea ollie has had this mk2 fiesta sitting in his garage for ages with a ford focus st170 engine sitting in the hole. finally manages to get it running with a MaxxECU mini controlling the vvt :) let me n what you think guys

I used to have an ST170 years ago, I had pulleys, exhaust, filter, sports cat, throttle body and a remap and it nicely made 205hp. Loved that car but it always seemed limited on what you could do to it without slinging a turbo in it. The IMRC system was a nightmare for loads of people though, if the plastic cam didn’t snap then the controller would have some sort of bother with the soldering etc.

Just a quick one for Ollie, and yourself for knowledge. Those k&n inlet pipes are pretty crap. Once the engine has heat in it, they go soft and start vaccuming themselves shut under acceleration. There was a plastic version of the same pipe available back in the day (forum days, ahh the memories!) that k&n offered but I never got my hands on one. The standard crossover pipe from a silvertop works better, but you still have heatsoak issues - if you're bothered about that sorta thing. Dan 👍

Awesome, just a heads up you might get fuel starvation with an injection pump on that tank. Had to make a swirl pot out of a fire extinguisher back in the day

What coil/plugs did you use on it? I bought a Maxxecu for my US spec SVT focus that I've fitted with a turbo and I want to do the same when I install my ECU..

No its a zetec with a different head. And a vvt inlet cam 😎 the mk1 focus rs was badged as a duratec but its not. Its a zetec as well

Nope, Zetec engine with duratec written on it, some head work and different intake plenum/tb.
