I like the part in the movie where he says, all my decisions have led me to this place, this rock was waiting for me, since millions of years ago when it was formed, until the day I was born and now it has been waiting for me. He actually got his arm cremated and spred the ashes in that same spot where it belongs according to him. Aron is such a humble, smart, bright man.

This is 11 years old so I dont actually expect much feedback, but thats really interesting to me. Would love to see somewhere confirm this. How did they get his arm out? Have they since moved the rock? I also wonder how much tourism that area gets after the movie was released, and if there is anything keeping the public from degrading that site that would be so personal to him. Couldnt imagine surviving something like he did, carving his name into the spot he was sure he would die, to have some punk ass teenagers graffiti the site. Would even agree to him keeping the exact location a secret, if he wanted.

It is the most compelling of stories. I find it has a spiritual element to it. All of these crossroads of a human beings life. A healthy vibrant young man, the remote seclusion of a deep slot canyon, no information left for anyone to know where he is. It’s deep, dark, & cold. The hawk that flies over him every morning at the exact same time. It has the element similar to an hourglass, that time is limited. The epiphany when he realizes the two bones can be broken in his arm using the very rock that has him pinned in. So many things in a brief moment of time with life or death on the line all alone, in the prime of life. It’s amazing.

It's so interesting to hear stories like this and to begin to try and understand myself. I would have died there. I am very hopeful and would have hoped someone would have found me and probably would have waited too long to begin to try to cut my hand off. I am so glad he did end up doing what he did so he was here to tell us about it.

I think I would have tried to cut it, then cried like a bitch, chickened out at the nerve, and bled out lol... :(

Congratulations on the perseverance and survival. As unfortunate as the situation was...very few of us will ever get the opportunity to rise from hopelessness and appreciate the life we had, have, and will have. You rock Aron!

he did meet 2 people which he guided to some place before going off...however i dont remember if it was 2 girls or 1 girl and a man..regardless, the jump into the pool under the rocks etc was most likely not part of the real deal :P

Aron Ralston, 127 hours made me realize you had the courage to let go of one of your most important limbs. You are now my Hero.
