Igor Kamenz was born in the far-eastern Soviet Union. As a child, he was instructed by Arnold Katz and already invited by Soviet general secretary Brezhnev to perform as a conductor in Moscow.
He has studied under numerous giants of classical music, including Vitaly Margulis and Sergiu Celibidache.
Maestro Kamenz has won more piano competitions than any other pianist in history, including International piano competition Busoni (twice in a row), World Piano Competition Cincinnati, Bremer Klavierwettbewerb etc. The number of prizes lie in the dozens (more than 70 I believe).
He has played concerts in the biggest concert halls in the world (Gewandhaus Leipzig, Laieszhalle Hamburg, Spain, Italy, Birmingham, Washington D.C. etc.) solo and with orchestra.
His life story is ripe for a biopic movie. Indeed, it is hard to believe that such a legendary personality has largely remained unknown today. He is not only a musical genius, but is also an extremely well-educated man. He remembers every important person and event in the last 5000 years (naming the exact date, not just the year!).
