As a new quad pilot coming from planes I'm so happy I got into fpv and found this event when I did

I basically did the same. Flew planes for over a decade before starting with FPV. Still enjoy both, but FPV allows you to fly at places and weather conditions you couldn't fly before. Plus planes with FPV are awesome, too 😊

Nothing is required for the season. You can make all the obstacles out of anything you like. PVC is just recommended because it is very versatile and easy to use.

This is before the season, it's the preseason. The purpose of the preseason is to get players use to the format and ready for the regular season which starts May 18th and also to provide some very basic fpv freestyle training to new pilots. Also, PVC is NOT required. You can make your obstacles out of anything. Watch TuxedoFPV's video, he uses his body as the obstactles.

There are actually 3 different modes: ANGLE, ACRO (or AIR), HORIZON. In ANGLE mode the whoop "angle" is determined by the sticks, and the main characteristic is that the whoop angle is limited (is it 30 degrees?, that's why you can't do acrobatics with it). HORIZON mode is like ANGLE, but without the angle limit. This mode is the best for doing LOS (line-of-sight) acrobatics ;). ACRO mode is different than HORIZON and ANGLE, in the way the drone reacts to the sticks. In ACRO, if you move a stick, the whoop will start rotating to that direction continuously, meaning it will stop rotating only if you return the stick to neutral

Huh? Did you watch the video?? I explain all this right here 8:25 Angle mode is not limited to 30 deg, you can set at anything up to 85 in betaflight which is what most fast angle racers use. I just went over the two most basic and common flight modes in the video cause it wouldn't really add anything to show stick motions in Horizon since they would be basically the same as angle for this challenge. And actually there are more that just 3 modes that ... you forgot acro trainer mode, 3D mode, NFE race mode aka level race mode, and sever others. The rules state that you are allowed to use any mode beside 3D mode or some kind of mode that uses preprogrammed stick inputs.
