I bought mine from china 18 months ago. It was £30. It has worked faultlessly for that time. I get 30 hours of riding from a charge. Very accurate. I also have a garmin and Mio. This is my everyday ride recorder.

I also use a MIO. No problems at all. The only downside is that I can't load maps and that's why I can't use the POI or Surprise Me options. i live in the Caribbean, more on the South American side.

@@aldrinclementina4297 the Mio is ok but very dated by today's standards. I like my Mio but use it just to record rides. Garmin are the better unit for uploading maps but even they have issues.

Update: the battery of this thing turns out is pretty bad. Unfortunately, it seems like its dead every time I go to use it. I'm not sure what the deal is, but so far the battery just isn't holding up. It might be because I ride in the evening and the back light is on the entire time, so that might be why it's sucking battery life. I'll have to test it more.
@ericlowenbach5151
@ericlowenbach5151 5 жыл бұрын
I have one. The battery is great IF you turn it off manually when you're done with your ride. Auto off is not really off, it's a sleep mode that burns through battery.
@ScottRichey
@ScottRichey 5 жыл бұрын
@@ericlowenbach5151 I turned it off after I used it and turned it back on later and it still had a full battery. This does work, but if you forget one time, the next time you go to get on the bike it will be dead. Seems like a bit of a design flaw.

I have this stuff for 2 years and the battery still good, perhaps its because you are not charge the batery with 5 ampere charger as manual book say and that make the baterai turn bad

@@erwinnisa1471 that's exactly what I also taught. I do have another bike gps computer ( Mio 350HC). What I do is to make sure it is charged in the morning ours if I'm going for a ride in the evening. And the night before if I'm going for a ride in the early mornings.
@ScottRichey
@ScottRichey 5 жыл бұрын
Update 2: Ok, after having this thing for a few months I'm not sure I can recommend anybody get this and I'll tell you why. You have to charge it constantly. It's basically dead almost every time I get on the bike. Everything works fine except for the battery life. The battery life is pretty bad. If you charge it before the ride it's fine, but it will become an annoyance after a while. I did end up buying the sensor which honestly is a must if you want accurate speed.
@zakinugraha3130
@zakinugraha3130 5 жыл бұрын
Scott Richey you still ride in the dark or in daylight? Backlight for sure will drain ur battery fast. With sensors attached, is it still the battery life is bad?
@ScottRichey
@ScottRichey 5 жыл бұрын
@@zakinugraha3130 So far I have really only used it while on the trainer and it really hasn't seen actual use, but that probably doesn't matter since it goes dead without even getting outside on the bike. It's cold where I live so it will be a couple more months until I actually get outside with this, but the battery dies I don't even get to really see what it can do with the sensor. I actually just stopped charging it because I'd have to charge it every week. It's taxing because my last speedometer lasted years without touching the battery once.
@ericlowenbach5151
@ericlowenbach5151 5 жыл бұрын
@@ScottRichey As I said above, it sounds like you're not turning it off. I had the same issue when I allowed it to sleep after a ride instead of turning it off. If you turn it off, the battery lasts for a week of rides or more.

Ok, so I tried turning it off after I use it and it works. So here's the thing, if you turn it off after every time you use it it will last a while. This is just an ineffective design because other speedometers just turn off and on by themselves and last years.

I've got a wired Cateye Velo 7 at the moment and keep trying to talk myself into getting a iGS50S (not sure what the difference is between that and the iGS50e in the video), mainly because it can measure cadence and not just that, but _average_ cadence too. I am just worried about it not working after a few years of use. The Cateye Velo 7 might be cheap, but it's been dropped from 5ft onto concrete and still works, the (CR2032) battery lasts forever and being wired, it's 100% accurate all the time.

Yes, it definitely does track your speed from the satellite, but after having it a bit I got the front wheel sensor so the speed reads accurately. I noticed it wasn't tracking very well when changing speeds and was a bit delayed. Satellite tracking would work better in a car at constant speeds.

Hi Scott, does this download to Strava ok. How is battery life? Would you recommend this unit. Thanks Steve
@ScottRichey
@ScottRichey 5 жыл бұрын
There's two things you need to know before you buy this. 1) You need to manually turn it off every time you're done with a ride. If you don't turn it off the battery will likely be drained by the next time you want to ride. 2) You'll want to purchase the sensor because it's not accurate on the bike without it. If you are fine with those two things, then I recommend this. Everything else works great. It seems a little heavy, but I assume most GPS are about the same weight. When I first got it I downloaded my ride via bluetooth into the app. I can't remember which app because I don't use it any more since I got a new phone. But I remember it downloaded nicely and didn't see any problems.
