I was watching an old trick tip from 411 or something. It was ed Templeton demonstrating 5050 grinds. He said 2 things that profoundly changed my skating. 1 always vision the whole trick(if you're so concentrated on the ollie up by the time you get into the trick you're panicking and trying to scrape the trick together instead of doing the whole thing as one motion). 2 practice aim. Ollie onto curbs from far away like natas used to do, or practice ollies from left to right ect.. aiming your board/trucks/wheels and knowing where they're gonna go before you touch it is quintessential.

Great tutorial Spencer. I love how he keeps it real by not editing out the burp that's right in the middle of an explanation. 🤣

I like to practice manuals/nose manuals standing still. You get familiar with the sweet spot without razor tailing your nose and tail in the process. Then I'll practice them moving using lines on the ground as distance goals. Once i feel comfortable enough, I'll pop into the manual of choice on a pad and focus on landing in the sweet spot I practiced earlier.

I'm legit so embarrassed by the fact that I can do a reasonable amount of tricks, but ollieing into a nose manual has confounded my talentless ass for years. Like I've been trying to learn this shit since Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. I'm 30 now hahaha.

might be nice if you talked about the interplay between the backfoot and frontfoot pressure when balancing the manual (I noticed your back foot seemed flat on the back part of the board- ie you're not using the ball of your back foot to hold- rather you're using the whole shoe to hold the back foot down). hands down - the front foot is in charge of the pressure- but the back foot needs to play a part too.
