The Smashing Pumpkins will forever hold a deer place in my heart. Siamese dream is the soundtrack to my adolescence. But after seeing some pretty mediocre performances in 2000 and again in the late aughts, I truly thought that Billy Corgan had lost his way as an artist. I just saw them open for Green Day this week and this performance was even better than their 1994 lollapalooza performance. Billy was smiling, happy, and they were truly rocking. And it was amazing to see him. let his ego aside and be willing to open for another band, much like he is discussing in this interview.

He didn't say it would. He said his writing and recording would return to the same mindset as Siamese Dream, and he delivered on that promise tenfold. Just like before, he threw pretense out the window and gave us an album chock full of very real emotions extracted from his actual life. Just like he did moving from Gish on to Siamese Dream.

I hate to say it but I dumped my pumpkin tickets for a few weeks away. I can’t pay $100 to hear the amazing pumpkins for only thirty or fourty minutes and open to crap like Green Day and Rancid. It’s all backwards. Nim mentioned Billy Joe turned into some neo, political punk musician, and Is one of the biggest shill tools in music today. Billy Joe has single-handedly ruined a massive part of rock ‘n’ roll with his whiny brat attitude.
